Clubman turbo upgrade. Is it worth it?

Has anyone upgraded their turbo on a newer clubman? I have a 2018 and can’t seem to find anyone that has yet? Also, if you have, what else would be needed with the upgrade? I don’t usually upgrade my cars, but since buying my Mini, I can’t resist 😁

Thanks

You might want to think about upgrading all the pipes for the intake/exhaust system first, or even getting a tune. Get in touch with Mario Palza, he will be able to help you out. Just search here on the forums, or even Google, you'll see plenty of positive reviews.

For the Gen 3 cars, the stock turbos are solid BMW components. To get more from a turbo, you have to do a bit more than simply bolt a higher performance unit on. The fueling and pressure sensing controls, and the engine management system, all control what the turbo produces. IMHO, tune what you've got first.

Check out parts breakouts for the various versions of the BMW engines used in MINIs. Injectors, pistons, intake air cooling….. just sayin'

Thanks for the info. Like I said, I don’t usually upgrade my vehicles so this is all new to me.

Maybe a better choice would be waiting for the 300 HP Clubman and trade yours in. Anytime you mess with major components like that and have a problem the Dealer is happy to get the Void Warranty Stamp out.

If it makes you feel any better about keeping the stock turbo, the JCW turbo unit is the same... I would just get a tune or a power module and call it a day.
