Key fob programming
years of time on this site and I've yet to see a reliable source of the service you desire <besides the dealer>
in fact ..... I recently saw an ad for a national chain that advertised key fob replacement and programming ..... guess what's one of the few brands they CAN'T do?

I was looking for some DIY recommendations but Thanks anyway
I've been here a long time too and have never seen anyone successfully code their own key fob. Most posts say that buying a fob off of eBay ends up being a waste of money. Good luck.
Keys that are purchased from eBay, etc that don't come from BMW/MINI are a waste of money and there is nothing a dealer can do to program them for you. There are 3rd party companies out there that claim they can but you or the next owner of the car will have issues when the next key is purchased from the dealer. The CAS unit in the car can store 10 keys (slots), 2 from the original delivery and 8 spares ordered later. BMW keeps track of how many keys they make per vin and every time they make a new key it's made for the next slot. When you buy an eBay key and have it programmed with 3rd party software BMW has no record of this so the new keys will not work because they are programmed to a specific slot on the chip in the fob. Keys are best purchased at the dealer as much as people think they are a ripoff so buyer beware.
