vanity mirror light problem.. help!

my passenger vanity mirror lights is not working when opening the cover, but when i push the cover a little higher it lights up... but when i let go, the lights go off.. any fix for this problem? thanks. i have an 04 mcs.

I've never seen this issue on my mini, but from the sounds of it, you have an electrical contact issue. When you push, you make contact, when you let go you loose it. I would remove the screws that hold it up there and see if you can see if the wiring is loose.

My assumption is that the cover completes and electrical contact and is somehow missaligned. You probably need to move a piece of metal around to complete the connection when the cover is a tad lower. Might need some epoxy too to hold that metal where you want it so it doesn't move around on you again.

This happened to our Mini. The clip that holds the Vanity Mirror in the Up Position & allows the Light to go on & stay on broke. We ended up having to replace the Visor itself. I found a used set & replaced it myself. I have the other Visor incase it happens on the other one.

I had this problem on my '04 MCS. Was replaced under warranty.
