questions - air conditioning

Hello NAM Readers,

I just bought a '04 MCS and I'm not sure if there is something wrong with the air conditioning.

I have an auto climate control. The air conditioning button is ON. When I turn into low - it's cold. Then I turn it up to 60F, 62F, 64F, 66F - they're kind of warm in which I thought should be cold. What I'm saying is that there is a high difference between Low - 60F.

Please let me know if you know the answers. I appreciate it.

Thank you,
dominos

"LO" and "HI" positions lock the temperature control at complete maximum regardless of the other setting factors. These factors are cabin air temperature (naturally), infrared sensor on the dash (sunlight heat load), evaporator temp (how cold the coils are) outside air temp and engine temp (how hot the heater core is). If it is not very hot outside, even set to 60 the system will mix in a bit of warm air to avoid the uncomfortable chilled blast of cold air. If the car is sitting in bright, hot sun on a hot day, even set to a warmer temperature the system may forgo mixing any warm air in until the cabin temp becomes cooler. As the inside temp approaches the set value, the system will make the air less cold and slow the fan to match the heat load and demand. The LO and HI positions are there to essentially override any automatic settings and use the system's power to it's fullest.
