PIAA 540 Light Covers question: required?

I recently had a pair of PIAA 540 fog lights installed. When I take off the light cover(s), the lenses fall off. Is this for REAL? They designed it this way? Or am I doing something wrong?

This is definitely not the way they are supposed to work. I have the same lights and this has never happened. Take them back and get them replaced/fixed.

Yeah, I have the same lights and I have never used the ugly covers. the lenses should be held in by screws on the side. (covers fit over the screws).

PIAA 540 follow up

I called PIAA customer support, sent them a photo of the light in question, and they've agreed to send a replacement lens/reflector. There was an apparent manufacturing problem with the light, the lens was not glued to the reflector body. So, PIAA stepped right up and fixed it, just by seeing a digital photo of the problem. Good for them.

Now I have to wonder how an accessory installation dealer, who shall remain nameless, could have installed this and not known there was a problem. I can assure you that they did know it, because they had to remove the light covers to grind the bottom off them to make them fit (arrggh). When they did that, the lens would have fallen out, and a reasonable shop would have called me and said they'd have to get a proper part.

If you live in the Portland, Oregon area, and want to know the name of the shop, send me a private message. They're in Lake Oswego.

Quote: My advice to US tourists going to Australia: "There isn't a situation where you are going to want to use the word 'fanny' in general conversation"

I heard a great story about an American in Australia talking about his wife's "fanny" pack the other day. LOL!
