Cool. No tools other than 1 T20 screw turner needed.
The 12v GDO models are the trickiest, mine was the 1st 1 I did and took me about 30 mins start to finish. Been using it happily for over 2 years I think.

If "D B Nelson" from Indianapolis is here, please know that your (aol) PayPal email address is bad so I couldn't acknowledge your order.

I'll be there. I'm staying at Palace on Thursday.
I'm easy to spot. The large, furry Australian in the Sin City MINI Club shirt.

Installed Auto up and Auto Front Fog

I picked my Mini from the dealer this Saturday. Brought it home and had the Auto up and AFF installed in about 10 minutes. What a piece of cake. The down tubes simply drop down and can be spread apart to allow removal of the switch module. Once you do that, simply plug and go. Programming was a cinch.

I have to show a security badge when I drive into work. With the auto up, I didn't have to try and shift and roll up the window at the same time as I left the security shack. Thanks Ian, this mod is the best.

Phil

Do I order more circuits? I only have about 10 left, and none of them are "up only".
A few people have contacted me this last week - I have three orders to go today, which is a lot compared with since the "opposition" turned up

So why am I getting orders instead of them?

If I order more, will they sell - or is there just some short term reason why I'm getting orders ...

Any insight from anyone? Thanks!

You're getting orders 'cause you're the original, and you rock!
Or maybe it's the British accent.

Given that every one of these cars should have this feature, it does not surprise me that the ordering continues.

I purchased because of the optional Auto Front Fog module. I don't think your competitor has that yet. Also, I like dealing directly with the designer/manufacturer. It looks like your opposition will be selling through third parties with the requisite markup. Pricewise, your significantly less than the competition.

Are those enough reasons?

Thank you Phil.
I hadn't realized about the "third party" pricing - originally they price pointed just below my price. Interesting.

Installed the works from Ian last Saturday. This is the greatest convenience add-on I have ever seen. Clear instructions, free customization for a 3V garage door opener adaptation, and extremely prompt support from Ian when I had questions. I opted to remove the down tubes for an easier install, and it still only took me less than 20 minutes.

Thank you, Ian!!

I don't know if theyre priced higher, or not. I think it has something to do with brand loyalty. People want to have "the original" not the knockoff. I recomend your part to everybody I meet, so keep it up

Ian,

I have your circuit and have to say, well done! I frequently have to go through gates that require me to present ID and your circuit makes it easier for me to get moving without holding up the switch. Also, BMW here in Germany saw it when I took the car in for service and loved it. I showed the guy what it could do and he thought it was great. Thanks for the great work.

I don't know if the other one has the extra functionality that the original circuit has, but I LOVE the GDO function (never have to worry about changing the battery) and the ASC shutoff. I used to reflexively hit the ASC button every time I started the car, now I only do it when it's raining.
The only thing I wish I could change is the time I have to hold the unlock button to open the garage door. It's about 1/10 of a second less than when the windows start rolling down.

Ian -

Official MCAW Distributors were a recent addition. The addition was made to provide additional services that we were not previously supporting, like shipping to Canada and Overseas. It also allows us to batch ship in quantity to the distributors. Many customers expressed interest in this approach so they could combine our product with others that the distributors carry and save a bit on shipping. The other intent was to introduce the MCAW products out to a whole other class of MINI owner that doesn't necessarily frequent this site or the other MINI sites. We have two additional distributors in the works that should help to accomplish this.

As for pricing, the distributors are free to set the retail price. We had some initial suggestions on the markup we felt was honest and worthwhile. The Basic circuit (Auto-up only) when available should come in right about $49.oo mark.

Support is now available through the distributors and still through our website directly.

The day to day administration, packaging, and shipping was starting to eat up a lot of time for both of us. Time that we would like to spend in developing a couple of other projects for the MINI community.

Thanks-
Randy

But I can't send you my circuit, I can't live without it! Are you coming to AMVIV this year? You were here 2 weeks after last year.

That's what you said LAST year!

And no Conexpo this year to get you out here on the company dime.

What I'd REALLY love to do is drive out there - do the coast-to-coast bit, making sure to hit Las Vegas for AMVIV. But this means finding 4-6 weeks if I want to enjoy the trip.
It also means persuading Margaret that a coast-to-coast drive in GBMINI is OK - she'd certainly vote for her car, not mine

Last years Las Vegas trip was just an accident that it was near AMVIV.

Doing AMVIV again next year? How about doing it near to April 4th?

We are doing AMVIV next year, but we're keeping it in March. Easter is 4/4-4/8 in 2007.

Now's your chance to get one of the original Ians Auto-up Modules. Get them while they last. This is probably the best non-performnce mod you can make to your MINI.

I have no affiliation with Ian, I'm just a satisfied customer.
