Electrical Cigar Lighter / Power Outlet
Cigar Lighter / Power Outlet
The power outlet in my MINI goes off with the key.
Is there a way to switch it so it stays on when the key is off?
Or... is there a easy place to hook up an accessory power outlet?
I would appreciate any input.
Thanks Larry

Hi Julie, Hi Larry?
I tuned in believing this was a tech tip from our favorite MA Julie at Classic, but is it a question posted to Julie through NAM by Larry? Or is it a question from Larry to Julie that Julie has posted on NAM? Naw. I'm sure the tech folks at Classic have the answer.
Trick question after Thanksgiving? Subtle way to learn if we tyros know where the cigar lighter is located? I give up. I haven't seen it. But here is my guess--maybe it can be wired similarly to the iPod connector because it remains "live" even though the ignition is off. Best wishes.

power tap point.
It depends what you are trying to do.
The (inside) fuse panel is next to your left foot. There are some fuses that are not used on each model, even if ther are already fuses in the slots.
You can also use an "add a circuit" to one of the existing fuse positions.
There is full time power on the ceiling at the clock, and probably at the interior alarm module (above rear seats).
There is power under the hood at the fuse box, or the battery terminal.
