Xenon Fog lights?

I'm looking for some way to possibly change the bulb or cover to my fog lights. I drive with them on all the time and I thought they would look better and more uniform Xenon-like blue glow/color. Is there like a film I can put over the lens, or different bulbs that I can get to have this?

Thanks

Mike aka Chili

their are a few companies that sell tru HID convertions with the h11 bulb for the fogs

basically just a retrofit since you need to wire up the ignighter and ballast they sell for around 250 to 300 depending for the whole kit !!!

Hella also sells True Xenon Fogs meant for going behind the bumper cover ... small and round. TIrerack sells them. Then again, Xenons are inherently bad for fogs ...

The easiest, and cheapest route is to look for an aftermarket "hyper white" bulb for the fogs. You're not going to match the color exactly, but close enough I think.

I use my fogs, during Sunday runs and rallies, and occasionally during fun driving. Like the dude said, fog lights are for fog, but it gives a sportier look to the vehicle, and with the DRLs, makes you more visible. So, if this is good enough, we can go back to the original thread:

if you are adter a blueish look, film is good enough, or you can get aftermarket bulbs, which I prefer the film, because it is pain in the butt to change the H11s. If you are after real xenons, it will cost you money, and time, which is not very feasible.

I ordered blue protective film for the headlights from Mossmini.com, i had a friend in Austin had it on his STI headlights with (xenons), looks real cool.

Also, check e-bay, there are a lot of headlight, foglight protective films on for sale.

Good luck, keep me posted.

Not in my neck of the woods? The car does look sportier with the lights on, but definetly at night I've found (just try it a few times ) that I feel alot more comfortable with the fogs on. Just brightens everything a little bit. Plus if you live by me you constantly have little furry animals running in front of you.

Just try it you'll see!

i've been lookin' into this for sum time now....cuz it is a little bit off in the colour department but also they are not bright enough!
it does only help a bit w/them 'on' all the time.
i am aware that they are not meant to be bright & a yellow light is better for fog so if ur goin' to have them on they should atleast match and help w/visibility more then they do now (weak in my book)
not a real cheap upgrade indeed so if anybody does find a good route to take, feel free to let us know

These may be the bright bulbs you seek. Cheap, too.

Funny, the bulbs I just received from Supreme Power Parts actually look like the inner workings are beefier then the ones from eBay saying how tough they are

Can't wait to put them in, will post pics soon

Its not. Your fine

All it might do is irritate people in front of you if they are bright with glare since there is no rain or fog to cut the glare.

It might also (intensely) irritate people travelling in the opposite direction.....sorry, this is one of my pet peeves .

I hate to bring up a REALLY old thread, but I was searching to see if anyone had done a TRUE HID conversion for the fog lights and couldn't help but notice some of posts. Why would foglights irritate someone in front of you or oncoming traffic if their are pointed/mounted LOW??? Also, Xenons aren't the worst for rain, if you were to tell me that factory temperature Xenons aren't the best, then I agree with you.. However, they sell VARIOUS color temperatures with 3000K being yellow. And yellow is the best color for the fog rain, and being that their HIDs will be very bright and be better than the normal halogen amber-ish color...

And yes, people like riding with their HIDs cause it LOOKS good, plain and simple... And HID-fogs look even better..

Its not where they are mounted. ITs where they are pointed

Are you asking where to buy Fog Xenon lights? If so, Hella sells some http://www.hella.com/produktion/Hell...o_DE_Xenon.jsp Tirerack might be a retailer for them.

If they are in the stock housing then the light is still pointing downwards.. thats why I don't understand everyone saying it blinds oncoming traffic... MINIs are low and only SUV's headlights bother me..

No what I was referring to was a proper HID kit using a projector for the correct drop-offs and diffusement patterns and the like... Any clues ??

These are true Xenon lights. See http://www.hella.com/produktion/Hell...Technology.jsp
The reflectors are made for fogs. It has the correct drop off. Hella is a top quality lighting company. Also see http://www.hella.com/produktion/Hell...Technology.jsp for a description of their Xenon technology.

This is the real thing. Your not going to see the ballast for the small projectors because they are incorporated, I believe, in the housing.

Hella HID auxilary light applications are for driving lights only, not fogs.

The ballast are not incorporated in the housing. THey are separate from the housing.

Sorry for not being specific.. I mean a DIRECT replacement of the factory fogs, using a projector HID housing.. I was at a dyno-day last Sunday and saw a Chevy Cobalt SS with projectors in the place where the factory fog lights are located. I asked the owner for details but he wasn't too sure of the size, I think he simply found the correct size projector and fitted it. However it looked AMAZING and was definitely not point high at all so it wouldn't be a nuisance to oncoming traffic AND points out wide so as to actually be effective... Not that we get much fog down here anyways..
