Made the change....

And it seems good to go! I'll know more when I have some miles under my belt. But the calibration seemed to go better than any time before, so I'm hopefull. I used the old connection to the fuse panel to control a relay, so that I still get automatic switching with the install I did. Frankly, I'm baffled why it works, and to lazy to scope it to find out for sure!

Anyway, they're will be photos in the how to....

I'm finding that just about every time I turn on the unit too run some 0-60 measurements, I have to recalibrate the RPMs. Anyone else find this?

I do have it plugged into a splitter as well... Also plugged into the splitter is an escort radar detector, and either TomTomGo 300, Cell phone charger, or PSP charger.

Could the varying devices plugged in be affecting the RPM pickup?

Also, it seems like I often have to pick a different # for RPM selection. You know when you scroll through the 20-30 options, and it says 'pick the one that is the most accurate'. When I scroll through, they seem to change, which makes it frustrating to have to go through all of them all the time.

Gt2

I have a GT2 and we ran it at a 1/4 mile strip. It was with in one to two tenths. Also, as far as HP is was about as close as you can get. Being that every dyno I have ever used reads different. Plus you get the great added things like wind drag etc.

Not since I did the wiring mod to get power from the batt terminal under the hood.

Before that, it was screwy and dissapointing. I put photos in the how to thread I did.

WagnBat what kind of times are you seeing? That is with your setup if you have seen any solid runs.

I've not done any real runs with it yet. Have not found a clear 1/4+ mile road with which to play with. I have had the unit mounted and watch the RPM meter, and done a couple of ad-hoc 0-60's from red lights.

Usually when I have the unit mounted, it's off. I'll press the 'on' switch, when I want to use it, and because I'll have to recalibrate, the light has usually turned green, or I'd have to pull off to the side of the road. Bleh.

I'm sure it'll be useful on track days or whatnot, or if I figure out how to get it to work right 100% of the time. Not too sure about hardwiring it unless I have to.

I used to have a nice level stretch to play in until the neighbors started to complain Oh and they are building houses down that stretch so there's trash in the road constantly.

I went to that 1/4 mile track by us a couple months ago to watch... But they weren't too friendly. There are two roads in, one had a guy taking money for cars going to the strip, the other looked clear and went outside the fence line. I took the latter, and soon had a cop on my tail telling me I ran the gate. I explained there were no signs or anything, and I just wanted to watch from a distance with my friends, and he said 'Yeah, $20 to watch'. Fricken PG cops.

Let me know next time you want to go and I'll show you the ropes . Its $20 to race, $10 to watch. They might be closed for the season now though.
