Mini Alarm System

Does anybody have the MINI Alarm System installed and working properly? I have an MCS-05 and the red LED on the Washer Stalk does not light up and flash when the alarm is activated. The dealer I bought my car from is out of state, so I have to hassel with a local dealer to get it working. My dealer said I was only the 2nd Alarm they had ever installed! Hard to believe.

I have heard of others with the same problem, and the possibility of some "issue" with the alarm. One guy says, his red LED indicator light only illuminates when his washer fuild is low!

Apprciate hearing from others with the alarm (working or not). Thanks!

They were supposed to be coming out with a new version of the alarm for the 05... any word, has it come out yet?

I wrote Miniusa two weeks ago and asked with the alarm system would be available. I was told it was coming out the last week of March and that I should tell my sales person to order it which I did. I have since not heard anything on it. I have already paid for it and eager to get it installed. I was also told by Miniusa that at first there would not be many made. ski

Thanks for the info. I knew there was more to the story... now I can see how my out-of-state dealer will propose to fix the problem. Thanks.

Update: I called ASK-MINI and I am so impressed with how they are handling it. MINI is calling the Service Manager (out-of-state to me) where I bought my car... and then MINI is coordinating the install at a dealer local to me. If everything goes as smooth as that phone call... I will be extremely happy!

UPDATE: I spoke to soon about Ask Mini Customer Relations. They totally DROPPED the ball. The final word from them was a lame email telling me I can take it to any dealer.

Luckly - I didn't wait for them to act. I called my out-of-state dealer (way before the email). They had to research it. The service manager finally was able to find the info needed. The KEY (for anyone else looking) - is to tell the dealer "there is no service bulletin on this" - but there is a "PARTS bulletin about it" - as this IS a PARTS issue.

So finally, my dealer got it ordered and is going to send me the part (along with the stock right hand stalk that has to be replaced)... and then the SM will call a dealer near me and pave the way for me to get it handled.

Am keeping my fingers crossed. As this issue has been lingering on for nearly a month now. I hope this helps anyone else with the same issue.

05 alarm works ok

Hi - here's a data point for ya.
I had my dealer in Denver install the factory alarm prior to delivery of the car. Works great and the red stalk bud does blink in expected fashion.

cheers,

robc
