If I get the Mongoose cable and sign up for this service can I then enable the XM receiver in my car to enable satellite radio?

Dealer is quoting me $350.00 to activate the xm receiver for my 2008 Mini Cooper S, additionally they have a few hours in time on some other software updates I need (i.e... Passenger window keeps going down on its own, false notification on external bulb being out).

Seems like I could take the money and buy cable and 24 hour pass to minitechinfo.com and complete all of this saving money in the end.
