He wraps the software in a tidy self installing manner. So all you do is follow the simple directions and click a button and it installs everything itself. You will need to click on icons when it asks but its all in the easy to follow directions. Everything was installed on my Mac in minutes.

I have INPA working, but haven't been able to get NCS Expert working - I get error messages when trying to open it. I haven't had time to troubleshoot yet - might try what Gijs Spruyt did for the install.
Got my cable/software from http://www.bcables.com/index.html

I've put up my software here: http://1drv.ms/1hp1rn2
Use a VM with Win XP SP2 !!! otherwise NCS Expert won't run.
install the cable with the drivers in the Driver folder. ( or with the drivers wicht came with your cable)
Then install from the folder ProgramInstallation
then upgrade from the Referenz folder.
And finaly install NCS Expert Dummy.
reboot and your ready to go.
Good Luck.

I am in the clear now. I had not been prior. There were lots of bugs and it did not matter what I did to try and correct the issue. I even removed the software completely and installed other versions and still had issues. It wasn't until I used the software provided with my cable that it all installed with only a few clicks.

The drivers are very important! I've got multiple versions but the ones i got with my cable work perfectly ( also on win 7 and 8))
But I had trouble with ncs expert on SP3. This i solved with the use of SP2.
Ncs expert dummy worked on all versions.
But good to hear stuff is working for you !
At the moment, I'm trying to get my chrono's working. There are options in the kmb for an 1-100 kmh timer and a 1/4mile timer (stoppuhr)
When i enable them, i get only a dark field on my bc in the functions-cycle. When I check alle the segments in de lcd-display, thee is a field Timer, on the right next to speed and it lights up in the paneltest
But to enable these timers would be fun!
Advise would be appreciated.....

I'll double check and let you know.
I did have to put a jumper on the cable between pins 7 & 8. Prior to that, I could see information, but not save information. I wanted to activate the Daytime Running Lights, and the dealer said it would be about 1 hour and $100. I had purchased the cable a while back, but hadn't gotten around to trying anything. I guess that was motivation enough. After I got things working, it only took about 15 to 20 minutes. I plan on turning on the wife's DRLs this weekend.

INPA is more of a diagnostic program - you can see what the sensors are reading real-time, read and clear codes, reset adaptations, etc. You can't re-code optional functions of the car with INPA though.

I believe that I've got NCS Expert Version 3.1.0, and INPA Version 5.0.1. Not sure offhand what version of NCS Dummy I've got.
I'll double check and let you know.

I have the sofware and cable and jumped the pins also, using Win7 64bit. Haven't had the time to play with it though.
Thanks to everybody for sharing info. This is awsome.

I will post up some instruction for those who need it to get INPA and NCS running on Windows 7 32bit. I have no issue on my laptop once I had a cable that works (also ordered mine off of eBay from bmwfanatiq).
Anyone know how to disable the digital speedometer over-correction on an R53? I couldn't find that in my editing.
