Aftermarket LED Tail Lights Hyper Flash / Bulb Out Error
I just installed a set of LED tail lights that I picked up on eBay and they are "hyper flashing" (flashing really fast when I use my turn signals). They are also causing a dead bulb error on my dash. I know it's because LEDs use much less power than regular bulbs and the car thinks the bulb is dead, but how do I fix this?
It sounds like the two suggestions are splice in a resistor or use NCS Expert. Resistor sounds pesky to do and will create heat, but I am open to doing it. I'm not sure if NCS will just get rid of the error but keep the bulb flashing really quickly. My guess is that its flashing so quickly because of the error so if I wipe the error the flashing will become normal.

I prefer to just buy pre-canbus friendly bulbs..
If you do go with the resistors.. Just insulate them well... They do get hot.. I've tucked them against aluminum to act as heat sinks with no issues.
Or you can google LED load equalizer and just get them premade.
I think NCSEXPERT will only fix the blown bulb warning.

here's a post i found by strobeyprobey that seems to indicate NCS would resolve the hyperflashing:
To remove the bulb checks it is just as easy, just one or two settings to change. Since the lighting module is capable of supporting LEDs that are used in other cars it is just a matter of figuring out which bulb Cold/warm Checks (thats the thing that causes the LEDs to flicker as it sends current down to test normal bulbs) to disable or which Check Control messages (the warnings on the dash). I saw them all in there when I changed the warning flashers. I will pull up the files soon and compile some more details.
