Dension Gateway 500 with BTA1500 Bluetooth

I've installed my Dension Gateway 500 and enabled CDC via NCS Expert. This all works fine and I am able to play music through the headunit and browse the contents of my iPhone through it as well.

I'm now turning my attention to the BTA1500; this works for streaming audio over bluetooth (not what I bought it for) but I have no idea what functions need to be activated through NCS Expert to make the bluetooth phone functionality work.

If anyone could help that'd be great.

So I emailed Dension to ask how to do it and this was their response:

"Unfortunately, the BTA 1500 is not compatible with Mini.
So I cannot suggest you an activation method.

Kind regards,
Dension Support Team"

I didn't believe them as I couldn't see why it could work on BMWs with similar headunit (BMW wouldn't have spent all that money developing software for one model only to 're-develop' it for a the R56).

So I went about trawling the BMW coding forums, and posting, until Sas at BMWCoding.com merged my post with this thread.

So, as advised, I changed the VO by adding $644 to CAS and FRM using the "Using NCS to Change VO.pdf guide found on this forum.

I then amended the RAD2 FSW_PSW.trc file so that ULF_ECE and BLUETOOTH_RAD2 were set to aktiv, followed the normal steps to write the FSW_PSW.man, turned off the car, took the key out of the ignition and waited.

After waiting for a few minutes, I put the key in the ignition and turned the headunit on and there was the phone symbol.

After that, I checked all the functionality and the phone worked just fine (took a while to load contacts to the bluetooth unit).

Now I just have to work out the best location for the microphone. I might invest in a replacement microphone, FISCON Microphone Interior Light For BMW, MIni - 36338-5, so that the installation is as OEM as possible.

Hope this info might help people as Dension's reply may discourage people from using their product and go down the route of a more expensive solution.

posted a guide on how I made this setup work, even though Dension said it wouldn't, but the post has been sent for moderation.

Hopefully it will show up because people could be quite easily put off from trying what, in my opinion, turned out to be quite a simple retrofit which adds great functionality to the car for very little money (compared to what a main dealer/independent might charge)

Vaughty, I'm looking at fitting this kit. Can you activate SIRI using the voice control button on the MFSW?
