Constant vs Switched current

I am trying to install a Dice/Audiovox Universal RDS USB device so I can have Sirius Sat radio in my 2009 MCS. Since it's "Universal", the power supplied to it is via 3 loose wires, Red, Yellow, and Black. The instructions identify them as Red Switched power, Black Ground, and Yellow +12 Constant. So far I have figured out that switched means power will be supplied when the car is turned on like any normal car stereo and constant is power is supplied even when the car is off like lights and say a cigarette light.

My question is, do I need to connect both the red and yellow wires and can I just use an add-a-circuit to wire them right to the fuse box at the passengers feet?

Do I wire them both to the same fuse?

Will wiring them directly to the fuse box provide them with power?

How do I know what amp fuse to use for this device? The instructions don't list what amps are used just that it's a 12 volt.

You do need to wire both red and yellow separately. Do not wire them together because then both will either be "switched" or both constant. If both are constant then you stand a chance of draining the battery faster. Use what ever fuse size your radio is using or call Dice's customer service and ask for their advice.

Thanks, that makes sense. It looks like I need another add-a-circuit.

My 1 touch up window on the driver side stopped working after I took the dash apart on what has now been deemed a test run. What did I do??????

1 touch down works on both sides and 1 touch up works on the passenger.

I'm not sure how to solve that one. Try disconnecting your battery to reset the computer. My one touch down stops every now and then, I reset my computer and things start working properly again. It's magic I guess.

if it is like the aftermarket radio i put in my last vehicle, if you don't connect the yellow to a constant source of power, you will lose all your settings every time you shut down, time, station presets, tone settings, etc etc etc

but the radio will function fine without the yellow connected

I bought another add-a-circuit tonight. Waiting for my FM antenna adapter now.
