HID Swap..can it be done?

Fiance got a Countryman, but w/o the HID option.

If I were to purchase the OEM Xenon headlamp unit and just swapped the headlamps, would it work? I see there are a couple options (Bi-Xenon and AHL) and some statement about needing an ECU.

Being short and not rude, do some reading and searching. It is possible, but not cheap at all and there is some wiring involved (re pinning the plug) if you don't go the OEM upgrade route with the coding and extra module, possible wiper stalk, etc.

Short answer is yes.

But it is very expensive and you'd have to repin the plug, run new wires for an additional ground and also run new wires for highbeam. If you dont mind missing features, you can stop here.

If you want to do it right you'd also have to wire in two level sensors attached to the front and rear control arms and also replace the washer tank and tubing, add an additional pump so the headlight washers work.
