Wiring Driving Lights with Xenons

Sorry if this has been asked...I've spent hours looking for an answer here, but couldn't find it. I bought a kit, and have an '08 MCS with Xenons. I want to run this kit without a switch and have them just go on with my hi-beams, but can't find the appropriate place to connect the last wire to trigger the lights. Do I have to tap into the wire that runs to the xenons or is there a better place so I don't have to splice into that wiring? If there is..where is it exactly? If there isn't, which wire running to the xenons to I need to tap into? Also...I have the battery power hooked to the battery, but I could go straight to the fuse box power, right? Thanks very much!

I don't have Xenons but when I installed my driving lights, I tapped into the high beam wire right near the connector on the back of the left headlight. I got my power from the under hood fuse box; there's an always hot terminal at the rear of the box. There shouldn't be any problem running without a switch; your driving lights will always be on with the high beams. Good luck.

Thanks! I'll move the power to the fuse box power. I read something about not wanting to tap into the wire behind Xenons, so that was why I was concerned. Any Xenon owners what to shed light on the subject?

Ok...I have the power moved to the fuse box...thanks for the help! I just need to know what color the wire is that I need to splice into the back of my Xenons. Quite a few there...just need to know the color.

Sorry, still no Xenons but when I did mine I used a voltmeter on the connector attached to the left headlight to determine which pin only got power when the high beams were on.

slimjimtell has been helping me. Looks like that's not how it works with Xenons. I need to go to the interior foot well panel and attached the on/off power there.

I did a little searching and was afraid that was going to be your final answer. I've done a little wiring in the footwell module and it's a bit time consuming but not difficult. Good luck.

Since you're working in the passenger footwell, you may be looking for a spot on that side of the car but I ran my wires (for the switch) thru the existing large wiring grommet on the driver's side. You can see where it enters the engine compartment by opening the lid to the brake reservoir and peering up into that cavity. You can access that grommet from the interior of the car in the driver's footwell. Good luck.

On the passenger side, behind the battery, there is a nipple that you can cut an opening in to pass wires through the firewall. My understanding is there is a similar nipple on the other side, but I've never accessed it.

On my 09 Clubbie S the High beam wire is yellow/red. Lower right hand corner of the left hand headlight connector - wire is a very small gauge - please check your with a meter to be sure.

That's the one! Thanks very much! Now...how did you splice into such a small wire?

In my wiring spares I had a small single wire splice clamp (the kind with a blade that is pinched into the wire when you close it). Only had the one so I cannot take a pic of it any longer. There are a wide variety available. Shop a radio or electronics store or even your local auto parts store and you should find something that will work.

Thanks! I have a little one that came with the kit, but only makes contact some times when you wiggle it. It's blue...I think that's the smallest one. I'll figure it out...but you helped a much!!
