OEM Driving light wiring kit

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but close enough?

I got a sweet deal on a set of OEM driving lights and was looking for the OEM wiring retrofit kit, talked to my local mini rep and he said that the wiring comes with the lights and cannot be separated. Does anyone know of a good place to find the kit, or an aftermarket kit that can be used? Seems a bit ridiculous you have to buy the wiring with the lights? I have a 2011 MCa

a decent auto part store probably has a generic kit - I would not bother with the factory kit it is overly complicated.

All you really need is a switch (a simple toggle is easy to mount), a relay, some wire, an inline fuse and preferably some crimp on connectors altho those aren't a requirement. Around $20 and you'll have wire left over.
example http://www.jegs.com/i/Painless+Perfo...30803/10002/-1 but this kit is complicated too (big clunky switch)and you are paying BIG for the brand name . . .

The lights themselves are not anything special and don't require the factory harness to work.

If you want a wiring diagram PM me but

you can find one here http://www.classictruckshop.com/club...h/foglites.htm
is has some extras ... and is not the ONLY way, but it works

did you get the brackets to mount the lights? that's usually the bigger problem.

Yeah I was just trying to keep as many of the stock connections as possible. The brackets to mount the lights I should be able to get a hold of. If it comes down to it, i will just wire them in using an aftermarket kit.

Do a little more searching on here, or use google for your search terms and add "North American Motoring" to whatever you are looking for. I believe you can find a link for a pdf from MINI that is a "How to" install guide, with specific parts numbers, including a part number for a wiring kit that is separate from the lights themselves. Then again, I am getting old and they say the memory is the first thing that goes. Or at least I think I remember them saying that.

I've not seen a DIY for the GEN2 driving lights but here's the MINI sheet for the GEN2
http://www.minimania.com/pdfile/R56_Rally_Lights.pdf

. . . I do not see a part number alone for the wire harness

My mistake, I did not read carefully enough regarding first to second generation in the original post. And since I have a 1st gen I am biased of course.
