Anyone using rectangular Driving Lights

I'm not so pleased with the looks of the round lights that seem to be so popular. I've had a few cars with rectangular lights like the current Hella 550s.

Is there a particular reason we see so few rectangualr lights?

Does anyone have some mounted that we could get some pictures of?

Does anyone have a suggestion other than the Hella 550s?

I installed these KC 26 series driving lights yesterday. Still working on the wiring. I fabricated the mounting brackets using 1" 90-degree aluminum angle bar (1/8" thick). Basically, I followed the mounting style used for the Alta driving light bar, except I have mine concealed behind the front license plate. After mounting the two brackets to the bumper, I used 3 1/2" long 5/16" diameter bolts to poke through the lower grille. I cut two small pieces of 3/8" diameter tubing to take up the slack, then bolted the cross brace to them.

I know they "work" but I think everything is geared towards the nostalgic mini look....thus why you find most everything "round"

I'm with you. I had the OEM driving light kit on my old '02 MCS. My friend who owned it previously had to replace one of them, and you can only buy the replacement kits in pairs. So he mounted the extra one directly in the middle for a better rally look.

I just wanted to do something different. You know the saying... there are no two MINIs alike.

Here's a better day picture:

Since the KC 26 series lights were low-profile, the plastic lenses ended up melting from the excessive heat the Optilux 100W H3 bulbs put off. So, I replaced them with a set of Westin 4x6s, which have glass lenses. Just compare this photo against my previous posts. They're putting even more light downward, so I have to be careful not to adjust them too high.
