Alta light bar ideas

Anyone have the Alta light bar, but have it set up with something besides 4 6" round lights? I ordered the bar, but I'm still considering my options for lights. Currently I have two hella 500's on homemade brackets that are mounted sort of lowish on the grille area, but am considering either moving them to the center of the alta bar and adding two more amber fogs on the outsides of the bar or leaving them where they are and again adding fogs to the bar.

This is my setup currently:

I am not sure how the Alta is, if it's just straight or can you move the position of the lights around because it would look nice if you can sort of mold it around the lower grille and say put the 2 Hellas on the top middle and then the yellow lights on the sides by the middle of the grill

Here's how my Hella's have been mounted for the past few weeks,

I'll be putting my Amber Hella 500s on in the center later this week, and wiring them so that they auto shut off when the high's kick on with the 500 driving lights.

I've also considered using the rock solid mounting to attach a modified pelican case or "cheesebox" to the center of the the bar for a good bumper cam on track days or daytime twisty road passes, Dragon trips, etc.

Bumper cam, now that's a good idea lol. Might have to keep that in mind...

I've considered putting amber 500's on the outsides, and moving my clear driving lights to the middle, but I really am not sure how driving lights will perform that low down. I've read that they should be higher up like I have them now. Plus, from pictures I've seen of 6" round lights on the alta bar, it looks like you can't aim them very far up due to the bumper above.

There is a fellow here in town who has the Alta light bar. His lights are aimed low, because they hit the bumper.

I have two Hella 500 driving lights on my MINI on Outmotoring brackets. They are aimed properly, but since they are low they don't work as well as they could. Seems like your mounting on top of the bumper would be ideal for driving lights.

While the reach down there is not as god as it could be, I still get well over a mile of lit up attenuators, between the Hellas being so naturally bright and then I went ahead and upgraded the bulbs on them for even a little more reach. I do notice more reflection off of salted and snowy roads though, which can be a bit distracting. I'll post up some pics of all 4 installed later this week.

I'm able to aim them properly because when I heard of a few people having issues with the Alta lights, knowing I already had the larger lamps, I set the bar as low as would possibly fit so I've got plenty of clearance. I've got yellow lamin-x headlights so when I'm in northern frozen tundra in rural areas with no lights, deer and snow drifts, proper aiming was non-negotiable.

Motor On, what did you upgrade your hellas with? I was asking around a long time ago about upgrading to 100W, but I was told the wiring and/or reflectors wouldn't take the heat, literally. I don't know how far my lights will go, because it would be near impossible to get a mile stretch of straight, flat road here that doesn't have any traffic on it. Plus our highways don't really have a lot of attenuators on them

I've the 6" IPF lights with the Alta bar. Happily, I am able to aim them straight ahead and still have clearance between the back of the light and the bumper cover. However, this is with the Aero bumper cover and not the stock one which may provide a bit more room. I also have the bar mounted as low as possible. If I had decided to put it just a quarter of an inch higher, I would have had to aim the lights low to clear the bumper cover.

I'd have to look at a side view comparison of the IPFs and the Hellas to see how the clearance might be different.

According to my googling just now, the Hellas are about 4/10ths less deep than the IPF's so I think it would actually be better.

It also looks like the IPF 896's are actually 6.5", not 6".

May be an installation issue on the one I mentioned. I have seen that setup where the lights were aimed.
