Ambient temp sensor & harness...

A few weeks ago the temp on the OBC showed -40 degrees and it was determined that there was a problem with the ambient temp sensor.

I stopped by the local dealership to buy a replacement but it cannot be installed because the female module that's attached to the wiring harness has been worn away due to dragging on the roadway.

(I have an Aero bumper and apparently there isn't anywhere for the ambient temp sensor to "snap" to, and it somehow cam loose and was dragging on the roadway.)

I need to know if anyone has had to replace the female module/harness and if it's pretty straightforward or challenging.

I do have soldering skills...

I'm picking up the female module/harness later today.

Thanks in advance!

Erika

Erika,

Easy job splice in your two wires and you should be good to go.

Now that I have the actual parts in my hand, it should be fairly easy to do this repair.

Will update this thread when completed.

Thanks for the quick reply!

ACK!

I am having a lot of difficulty getting the metal prong on the harness to "seat" into the female module.

Any tips?

Thanks in advance!

You could get a used plug with wire attached that could be spliced in.

True...except that it only cost $11.00 for the harness & female module.

What I **should've** done was have someone in the service dept. make the initial connection and all I would've needed to do was splice & solder.

Hopefully someone will share the trick with me (and for anyone else who experiences this situation in the future)...
