Quick chip question...

I found this PCD performance chip stage 1 online and it definately seems too good to be true. Would anyone know anything whatso ever about this thing?

I don't know......you get what you pay for. It looks like those are "cookie cutter" chips....

$40 seems way to cheap to do anything that it claims. I have been thinking about getting a Bluefin http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/index.php from the UK or doing a Jan Tune. Each of which are pricey but are well worth it.

BTW they state in the right up that it is for a 2008 and then state a few lines down that it is for a "Supercharger".

well the 2008 coop and clubman are turbo charged not supercharged.

IMHO stay away from it.

It just seems like they are "cookie cutter" chips. You will not get any real performance out of it.
Try a Jan tune which is renowned on the NAM site. See: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...g-14-15-a.html

He has proven himself over and over again. In fact, Mini owners owners have gotten together and Jan has flown out for "tune" events. It's well worth it or get a Helix Motorsports chip.

Here is a copy of Helix's performance chip pitch from http://www.helix13.com/mini/products/engine-intake:
Helix Minisports is proud to work with legendary chip tuner GIAC on a new set of ECU chip upgrades for the MINI. After what seems an eternal wait for the MINI Flash, it is finally available for cars with the 15% pulley and 19% pulley (for use with upgraded fuel injectors).

GIAC tuned the MINI Chip on their in-house MD 500 AWD load dyno (we beleive the only MINI Chip manufacturer with a dyno) to produce a consistent 5-6 foot pounds of torque and 3-9 peak horsepower, depending upon what software is in the car from the factory. We duplicated those results on our dyno, and soon hope to have other reputable dyno shops confirm the gains.

In the future, GIAC will release their proprietary smart cable: putting file switching capabilities in the drivers' hands. This will allow the user to switch from various files that GIAC will provide, including stock, chipped, race gas, and valet mode (for those irresponsible drivers in your life). Those who buy the flash at an authorized GIAC dealer will, as always, get free updates (some dealers charge a nominal installation fee).

Perhaps it is referring to the convertible r53s that were sold as 2008s.

If you want my opinion though I would stay far away from this chip...
