Oil filter adapter plate

Think this sub-forum is probably the best fit considering the topic, but it could go other places...anyways...

Much, MUCH cheaper than the Madness offering, which is why this has peaked my curiosity. Anyone have experience with this? Thoughts on clearance issues in the space it would use?

I may give them a call to clear up the physical dimensions, but considering the price I might just pick it up instead and see how it works out.

Sounds like a good idea, but in my experience there's precious little space now to get a socket on the canister.

Cobalt had an adapter specifically for the Mini that was sold thru Moss Mini. Due to lack of sales Moss discontinued it. Wish that design could be resurrected. I'd buy it in a heart beat.

I do not think the prosport design will work for the MINI because of the canister design instead of a normal oil filter. The prosport design screws onto the stud that a normal oil filter screws onto then the filter screws onto the stud on the adapter. Since the MINI uses the canister with the large external threads there is no way for the prosport adapter to attach to the engine block on the MINI and no way for the canister filter to attach to the adapter. Even if you switched to a normal oil filter to use on the adapter I do not think there is an easy way to attach the adapter to the MINI engine block.

Good point. I'm only familiar with the filter setup on the M3; its an element only rig like the Mini. I was running on the thought that BMW's would all be similar and hence, when I saw "most" BMW's listed I got excited.

Well back to the drawing board...or paying to play.

quikmni is correct, this adaptor will not work on the mini's cannister type filter.
