BMW alternator in MINI?

so my friend was at a shop getting his oil changed on his car or something, and he saw a MINI there, and was talking with him i guess. this guy supposedly has a High Output alternator in his mini, but its a custom alt made for a BMW, not sure on which model BMW. he said he used the BMW bracket and modified it to work. i wish he could have got this guys number becuase the chances of me ever finding him are slim to none lol. unless he posts on here and happens to see this LOL.

any ideas or anyone ever heard of this?

i was quoted for a custom 260 amp alternator made for my car to work with the stock bracket, $499 dollars....thats ALOT...

Yup, German cars are $$$$ to maintain, but the most fun out of all the car brands to drive.

You get what you pay for.

But back to the OT...the BMW alternator SHOULD fit without much trouble. You would have to just take a few meaurements and have a bracket made. Oh...and possibly a longer belt...but it should still be within tolerance...

I used to work where they made the factory mini alternator. It is actually made my Japanese company named Denso. Just some funny info about a German car having a Japanese alternator. LOL
