Electrical Xenon High's and Low's
Xenon High's and Low's
I was wondering about something today when I was driving home at night. I have OEM xenon's for my low beams and I was thinking if I can put them on my High's as well. I was thinking an aftermarket kit h7's but the thing that I was worried about was is the ballast would make the hood to heavy. Also has anyone done this yet and if you have can you post some pictures. Before you post things about getting a set of PIAA's or Xenonmatch bulbs, I have a set of PIAA Super Whites 4000k and you can still tell that they are halogen's
Thanks Zach
Thanks Zach

Someone's already thought about so you're not the first to ponder it. It seems it could be done, just as stated, what about another ballast?

You'd just end up losing visibility as the high beam reflectors are shaped to work with halogen bulbs rather than xenon bulbs.
Xenon bulbs work differently than halogen bulbs and require an alternate reflector (or a projector) to work properly. What ends up happening when you put xenon bulbs in halogen reflectors is that the light isn't dispersed correctly and you lose a lot of the visibility. Often times the halogen lights will actually be brighter than the xenon in the incorrect housing.

Lots of Honda's around here doing that very thing. Pretty awful lights.
If you do not use the HID high beams with oncoming traffic
you won't blind anyone
Also the headlight unit does not have a shield in front of the bulb that would keep the glare down. But if you use the high beams with no oncoming traffic its a moot point. I think the biggest difference between halogens bulbs and HID capsules is the focal point. If they assembled the capsules to have the same focal point as the halogens they are replacing the lights should work OK.
