Removing parking lights....

I got a new set of the PIAA H.I.D. parking lights to match my Xenons, and replacing the passenger side one was easy, but the drivers side one is being a booger. From the front of the car, which way do I turn the light assembly to take it out?

counterclockwise - like you're unscrewing it. Sometimes helps to push a bit while you turn. I know... one of mine was a bear the first time... helps to have little hands, too (which we don't...)

Careful with the pliers - the holder isn't too sturdy... I suggest you use the pliers just to wiggle it a bit - not try to grip it and twist it or it will break... find a friend with skinny hands...

Ha! Yeah, it does. I actually got the other one done, too. The plyers did the trick. You know I want to be just like you!

You just need to age a bit, like a fine wine, and you'll be there...

Hey do me a favor when you get a chance too. I want to get these as well and I know they are cheap to just buy and try them out , but could you post a picture to see how well they match ?? Thanks a bunch.

1QukMINI:
Exactly what did you replace your stock parking light with? What is the PIAA part number or product description, and why did you select that specific item as it seems there are several LED and incandenscent options?

My first priority is to match the Xenon color. So, are you happy with that PIAA selection?

Thanks.............

Jason and I are both running these:

Color seems very close.... close enough for me. They don't look "blue" at all when lit... just completely white, like the Xenons...

Thanks for the info. Those were already on my short list of options. However, do you find they product less light than stock? The reason I ask is the color here is achieved by filtering, so theoretically they will not be as bright.
Did you also consider this option?
http://www.shopatron.com/product/pro...PIA19263/353.0
This LED option is certainly not as economical as the incandescent, but may be much brighter, and more similar to stock light output.

Thanks Again......

The PIAAs that we're using actually seem considerably BRIGHTER than stock, as well as whiter.

I suspect they're MUCH higher quality bulbs than the OEM ones to begin with... I've been through A LOT of LEDs (though not the PIAAs) and have not found any that satisfied yet for combination of color, intensity, light diffusion and lifetime... I'm VERY happy with the PIAA bulbs we suggested.

Cool and thanks. Also, they can be difficult to remove with almost no space for your hand to get to it. Put a little of that 'dielectric' grease (i.e. silicone based) around the oring and it goes back together much easier.

We're talking about the same ones.... Sounds like you replaced your turn signal bulbs, not your parking light bulbs... there are two bulbs in the housing... a big bayonet mount turn signal bulb (orange from the factory, cool to replace with a SILVERED ORANGE bulb - not clear) and a small 194/168 wedge bulb that inserts from the side at an angle that is the parking/running light - clear bulb, replaced with blue tinted bulbs to make them match the xenons...

Blimey, do you have any pics showing these bulbs in action? I recently replaced my fogs and high beams with Xenon Match bulbs from Hoen. They too are a great match to the Xenons. Replacing the parking lights would make the conversion complete, until I think of something else.

Nope. No pics yet with these bulbs. Frankly it's really hard to appreciate in photos, anyway... darkness plays with the colors in the image and it just doesn't look like it does to my eyes... But it makes a HUUUUGE difference visually. Just ask 1QukMINI - he never even thought about it until I showed him mine side by side with his old ones - he went out the next day and ordered bulbs...

They're less than $20... not a lot to lose if you don't love 'em... you can resell them and you're out $10... but you WILL love them.

Thanks for the info

I had to swap a burned out bulb yesterday. It took me a bit of efford to find the correct bulb # on the forum, so for the record, the bulb required is a 168.

I also found that by removed the indicator bulb first (which is much easier, due to the little ridges to grap onto), I had a lot more room to get the parking lamp out. Some gentle grabbing with some pliers and then turning also helped.

Has anyone replaced the 'not so nice' stock amber turn signal bulbs in the front bumper with something better?
I just replaced mine with Sylvania Silverstar 1156A replacement bulbs. They look great, and light up perfectly amber for legal compliance.
Technically they do not fit, but we are not going to let that stop us....
The OEM bulbs are 7507 or something like that, and are very similar to the 1156 standard bayonet base. The only difference is that the OEM bulbs do not have the locking posts/tabs at 180 deg as do the 1156. Instead the posts on the7507 are off a little, at maybe 140 deg.
The mod is easy to get the Silverstars to fit. Just grind off one of the posts, then it fits in like perfect and looks awesome! Ok, maybe not perfect, but damn close enough.

The appearance is significantly improved as the nasty orange is gone!

I bought silver bulbs very soon after getting the car. When one burned out, I just used a little chrome paint and shot a very light coat on the OEM bulbs. Works great and cheeeeep.
