E-Mini New owner!

New owner!
I just bought a 2021 Mini Cooper SE and took delivery last week.
There goes the EVO X:
And here is my new toy.
I opted for the base model and I couldn't be happier. I'd rather not have a sunroof and the 16" wheels are fine with this power level. I may get some Michelin tires next spring too.
My only complaint so far has to be the lack of a Homelink mirror but that isn't worth $4000.

How long did you have to wait after ordering? Mine got here last week, 11 months after I placed my deposit. It's still at the body shop getting a base MINI Cooper hood that doesn't have the fake hood scoop. I know, I know. I'm crazy. Electric cars don't need hood scoops.

11 months... You're going to kill me.
I found it on AutoTrader on Friday 8/21/2020 after they had closed for the day. I think it got listed on that Friday. Monday morning, I bought it. The dealership is about 700 miles from me so I had to pay them to ship it and it took a few more days for it to arrive but it wasn't 11 months!
Is yours a 2021 model year too? My build date is July 2020.

I don't begrudge you your instant MINI Cooper SE one bit. I'm happy any time I hear about another happy owner. The reasons I wanted the Iconic trim were to get the larger center screen and the Power Spoke wheels (of course, they were Corona Spoke wheels when I placed my order).
Perhaps those upgrades are not worth $4K, but hey, I'm crazy enough to spend the bucks to get a new hood. I sent many letters in 2019 to MINI execs in 3 countries, begging them to let me pay $1,500 to get the less-expensive hood. None of them even bothered to reply with a reason why not. Now I'll be paying even more than $1,500 to exorcise the hood scoop. However, the effective price will come down a bit when I sell the original hood on ebay.
The biggest problem with the long wait was my poor wife having to put up with me for 11 months talking about how much fun our new MINI Electric was going to be. Now that she's driven it, she understands how much fun it really is--and she has yet to press the accelerator pedal even halfway to the floor. I was not so timid during the few days before I took the car to the body shop. This MINI Electric is a blast!
Our 2020 SE was about to be built in March when the coronavirus caused the factory shut- down. After the factory re-opened in late May, our SE was built in early June, so it's a 2021. After it took the train ride from Plant Oxford to the southern UK port of Southampton, our SE languished there for 6 weeks because the shipping companies were also affected by the coronavirus. However, when MINI of Ann Arbor announced they were ceasing business on August 24th, MINI found a way to get 'er done and my MINI Cooper SE was loaded onto the Grand Hero (perfect name!) and shipped to Baltimore post haste. It showed up just in time to be the last new car MINI of Ann Arbor ever sold. They were within walking distance of my house, but now Motor City MINI is 39 miles away. I can't really complain because many MINI Cooper owners live a lot further than 39 miles from their MINI dealer. And electric cars never need service, right?
