head install problems part II

OK finally finished with the new head install... and as soon as I started it up my service engine soon light came on.. I went down to Auto Zone and borrowed their code reader. It came up with a code P0304-#4 cylinder misfire. So far I have changed all plugs and #4 twice( Bosch Platinum +4). I did put on a new coil pack and new sparkplug wires, these also check out fine with a Ohm's meter and still the same code. This morning after running great all weekend it started to run on 3 cylinders after it warmed up OK, also the service light started to blink when it began running on 3 cylinders . I took it home and parked it and when I came home that afternoon it started and runs smooth as ever now abut still the service light. Also the ABS/DSC/TIRE SENSOR LIGHTS also come on full time. I do know this is the MAP sensors. So any Idea what could be the problem.

I think the first thing to try would be to put the old leads and coil pack back on - just to eliminate them as a possible fault.

Yes new modded head. And yes also to it being a new problem. I think I'l try putting on the old coil and wires just see. and if then I wonder if it's the #4 injector...That may be my excuse to put in JCW's...

Make sure the fuel injector wiring harness connector on the passenger side of the car is connected properly and the contacts are clean. Check the connections to the injectors, also.

The above reqs are great. How many miles on the new head? I had a short term cylinder #1 misfire when I put my new head on and new pistons. Once I got a few miles on the car though it went away and has gone away. Stock cam or Schrick?

Is there a local place where you can have the injectors tested? Make sure they are able to flow the rated amount (380cc, ro whatever you have).

The only other thought I have is make sure you are hooked up properly for firing sequence on your coil. Seems stupid, but an easy fix/mistake to make....

Good luck!

sweet deal. I may do this to my stockies just so they can be "stored" and re-used down the road in some project
