Drivetrain IE engine/trans bushings Qs
I have them. They do reduce movement, but add some vibration. I like it though, it has a sporty feel. They would be much easier to install if the castings weren't so sloppy. With all the bushings installed it will take some muscle to fit it back together. The trans mount was the sloppiest casting of them. I had to cut chunks of it off to get it to fit. I would recommend using powerflex instead, thier stuff has been very precise with perfect fitment. I have a few IE products and I don't plan to get any more.
The upper and lower mounts will reduce most all of the movement and should be enough to keep from braking your exhaust. When I dyno'd my car the engine didn't even look like it was running, let alone having the throttle shut at 115mph.

Promini and moss mini both sell powerflex. These are void inserts though, not replacement bushings.
I've got the IE upper and lower mounts. It was one of the niciest mods I've done for better feel and drivability.
The one side effect i've noticed with them though is during take off. If you start off like you do without mounts, you get a lot of vibrations and it feels like you don't know how to drive a manual. My steering wheel also moves around a bit at idle too, but that goes away once you start moving.
They are also a breeze to install. I did the lower one in maybe 20 minutes and that includes jacking the car up and puttting it back down.

good to see that my 90% solid lower mount isnt the only one that creates vibration on take off! A friend has all pflex in hi, and said it vibrated alot and was thinking of taking some out. I sat in it, it doesnt vibrate compared to mine! I didnt drive in it tho, so i dont know about the take off vibration in his. But anyway, to the point, try reving up the engine more on take off, and let the clutch out faster. After trying various things, that seems to have got rid of most of the vibration. You will be accelerating muchquicker tho, so its might not be that easy if you live or drive in high traffic areas. But thats how i got around the terrible vibration on takeoff anyway.

Mine gets a killer steering shaft vibration when the A/C compressor is on and idle sits at 1000. I can get around it though with a light hold on the throttle. Otherwise I have mild increase over stock for vibration at idle and throttle opening.
I am beginning to think that replacing the top and trans. engine mounts is a bad idea. I know there would be benifits, like no more... "yo yo throttle?" Was it? I sort of like the feel you get from flooring it while at speed and then letting off quickly, then back on quickly but smoothly. I guess it gives the illusion of lots of torque/power. However, I would be interested in switching out the mounts to see for myself. Good thing they arn't too expensive.
