Jackson racing header...Anyone?

Does anybody out there have any experience with the Jackson Racing header, inparticular the one sold by MOSS? I know Jackson racing used to do some great stuff for the Honda guys back in the day, I am sure they still do...

It sure looks like a nice piece and appears to be of 4-2-1 configuration, which is what I am looking for to add more torque. It also looks like it comes with a real test pipe for track days. The price of it is kinda middle of the road.... more than $200+ but less than $700 plus. The tapered primaries also look interesting.

I am wondering if anyone out there has used one on a MINI and what thier immpressions were... I want to do a header for my next mod. I am leaning very heavy into OBX arena because of price, but after a good cat, welding work, and shipping its really not that cheap anymore. For a couple hundered bucks more would the Jackson header be worth looking at????

I want more torque and overall hp, I am really not too concerned with the volume or noise..
To be honest I drive by MOSS everyday, and just to know this baby is sitting behind those walls ready to be mounted is killing me:impatient

If I was to run it with the supplied test pipe, on the track of course.... Is there anything else I would need? O2 sensors or added bungs or anything?

I have my first real track day coming up soon and this would be the kind

Let me hear what you know!!!!

As always thanks for it all!!!!

Randy from M7, aka maxmini, has one on his car. You might want to shoot him a PM.

Yes I never sleep LOL . I have had the JR unit on my car for about 50,000 miles now with no burn thru or rust issues so it is good on that count. The fit was good and I was able to cut the test pipe up and install the stock cat so for the most part the car is legal. No additional bungs were necessary. Now the big question, power. to be honest I don't know. I did not do a dyno before and after and as far as the seat of the pants goes there wasnt much there. Now maby NO header makes you go WOW based on that part alone, I really do not know . I will be doing a dyno comparison between this one and our new header hopefully this month so maby that can give you something to go on.

Randy... Your as much of a nite owl as me.... Do you have any comparison ideas in power between the JR and the OBX??? It would just be cool to try something different than the OBX or Megan... I know I am not going to spend $1K on a Larini or Miltek or something... For the extra $$$$ on the JR, to me it has to perform at least as well as the OBX for torque and overall hp... What do you think?

Thanks for the feed back

I can appreciate wanting to "try something different" and I don't think picking up the JR over the OBX is potentially taking a big risk HOWEVER bear in mind that this community helps identify perhaps not which is the best but atleast what works or is pretty darn good. I recognize also just because there is not a lot of talk about a product here doesn't mean it won't perform.

In the case of OBX and Megan, they opened the door wider for the MC community to add such a bolt-on because of price. For this reason there has been significant talk about each - quality, install, and little each ones little nuances.

I have the OBX so I can only comment about that header -
a) quality is good
b) install had a few nuances but easily over come.
c) I've put about 10,000 miles on the header - header and flange show no negative signs.
d) Seat of pants mid range TQ gain but can't say I felt top end hp gain.

if you go JR - pls share yr experience.

I have no experience with the OBX personally so I can not comment there.

We should be able to have firm pricing and delivery schedual on the " street " header by AMVIV. The race version will follow that shortly.

Good question and I do not know the answer at this moment . We have just finished the street version so that is the next project.

Ahhh Man, I just saw this thread again...

No I was not able to make it to AMVIV i heard I missed a great time...

But seriously I would love to be involved with some sort of header testing.

Like I said I am local and do daily drive my MINI. I am also scheduled for a trackday at Laguna Seca april 9th. That would be a good beta arena dont you think????

I could make arangments to meet you all anytime at the M7 world HQ's. Tell Peter if he lets me test one of his new headers that I will let him have HIS watch magazine back... Actually I was thinking of an afternoon of motoring wine tasting up here in Santa Barbara twisties hosted by me. Come on.... you know Peter cant pass that one up!

Seriously I am ready. I am buying a header soon, before the april 9th track day, dont make me buy junk. I want to represent M7 to the fullest and help bring the Power to the People...

Thanks, Jasun
