How's the drone on the highway or cruising at 2000-3000RPMs? I'm thinking of installing dynamat in the boot, hatch, and under the back seats to try and help with that. I'm expecting it to be pretty bad so I wanna be prepared.

Wow the Stahl looks nice. The header looks ridiculous compared to the stock lol. How come the bend on the exhaust to the mufflers isn't coated? Seems like you welded that on yourself?? Any sound clips??

Gnatster,

Can you get the a tight in/closeup photo of the model numbers of the dynomax mufflers that they are using?

Haha good call... I'd just go with Burns Stainless mufflers anyways...

Looks like Super Turbo mufflers though...

They are Dynomax SuperTurbo's. Thats what comes with the kit from DMH. We did put in the uncoated bends to have the pipes come straight out the back. The kit would have angled them like in the post directly above. Used an Aero Bumper cover off a Cooper and only had to cut a new opening on the other side. Don't have a sound clip, it is a bit loud. Need to add some dynamat or roadkill under the rear seat delete kit.

No audio/video yet; however, I'll be at AMVIV and perhaps someone there might have the necessary equipment for a proper recording.

Recently, at one of our SCMM functions a number of folks listened to the exhaust, and they did not feel that it was too loud.

Thanks for the interest....

I won't discuss costs, but the type of work done on my car is definitely not for the budget-minded modifier. Neither will I engage in a cost-benefit analysis. Suffice it to say, there's a group of MINI people (? nuts) who make these kinds of mods because they can and want to do so.
Hear Hear!! Same boat, same thoughts.

BTW, I plan to be at AMVIV-4, and interested folks will be able to see and hear my car...
Same here, or hear

I have an MCS and took off my JCW dual exhaust and replaced with a 3" single pipe out. I lost 30+ lbs and it sounds great. I 2 slip-ons. One with a Magna flow and one straight pipe (no exhaust) for the track which is insanity lound. Both are great.

What Magnaflow muffler did you use? Any sound clips of it with the Magnaflow on? Looking into Magnaflow mufflers for a cost effective solution for lower noise levels.

gnatster Love the header & exhaust! So the system is 3" from header on back? What mnfr. of cat are you employing, and is that a ball joint on the front of it? If not, how do you deal with system flex/engine motion? TIA

It isn't a ball joint there is a flex pipe included in the kit that is not pictured.

Yup... it looked like a 3-stud flange to me, but too difficult to tell what it might bolt up to.

Anyone have a photo? I'd like to see how it all went together. Also still wondering what cat that is pictured. I had one go bad & am looking for other options.

Coop d'etat sold his exhaust to me last summer. I personally think its the greatest thing ever invented. 4 Noise Violation tickets later you would think my enthusiasm has dropped?? Hell no! This summer when I go turbo only I plan on a 3" downpipe to the Webb Exhaust. Coop d'etat was also running the exhaust with the plate in. I have a cutout. I will post a few vids within the week of my car. I always run it straight. The car alarms while being an issue are quite entertaining, I set maybe 3-4 off a day at my school, everyone thinks it's hilarious, I think my record is 9 cars, I'll have to double check with my friends though, they counted.

The cops while writing me think it's hilarious. The last one who wrote me goes "Ummm, you were about 200-300 yards ahead of me, and it was still pretty loud, I thought I was going to be pulling over something more... exotic"

I'll be sure to get a vid in a underpass also, it's lovely.

Mike

Haha that's pretty funny. Theres so many cars in Miami with loud *** exhausts that I shouldn't have a problem with Noise Violation tickets. However, I just don't want it to be so loud that people won't want to ride in the car or that if I do a road trip I get a headache from loud *** drone...

I'm tight on money too so right now I'm leaning towards 2 Magnaflow mufflers (same ones on the MCS Magnaflow exhaust, only bigger tubing). I may run straight pipes for a couple of weeks though, for kicks and giggles.

I'll be looking forward to your videos!

Do you have Harmon Kardon?

Road trips are the only thing that get me... earplugs or a shitload of tylenol are both good options. The H/K system seems to take care of it mostly though, I just listen to really loud music. Either way I'll more than likely be deaf by age 40 but oh well, at least my car is kickass.

LMAO. I don't have the H/K System but have a 10" Sub in the back and the stock speakers go pretty damn loud. Have you considered putting some dynamat in the trunk, hatch, rear seats?

About those videos... lol

The soonest I'm thinkin you'll see the vids might be Sunday... I have to get a camera crew, production team, etc. No really I need to have my friends tape it, and I'm going to make a good vid with everything included, and even some humor. I would have the gf record, but then I can't make jokes about her while I'm driving, or cant really push the car at all, so thats no fun...

The dynomat is something I'm going to be doing within the next month or two, I've had it planned since last summer, but never really got around to it.
