How much HP?

Going put my car on a dyno this afternoon. It's a 2006 S with a 15% pulley, Alta cai, Unichip and catback, wonder what number I'll get? If you add the manufactures claims up I should be about 190 plus, I'll bet it is less we'll see.

Ok if I total the HP figures from the manufactures sites I've got 20 for a pulley 15 for a catback and 12 for a CAI, if I start with 147 that's 168 minus 12% for drive line loss and then add these I'm at 194 and that is before the 30% the Unichip is supposed to give so add 30% and I've got 253 whp. Now why do I think that's a little high we'll see I'm guessing about 180 or so.

180 would be a nice number, but don't be dissapointed if you're around 170.

Remeber that with modifications you can't just add the numbers.

If you were to graph your HP gains with the modifications it would be a curved line that tapers off at the top, rather then a straight line.

I don't expect 253 hp but if you read the ad's that is what you would think, I'll be happy if it get over 180. Unichips claims are the best 30% for only $800.00, man that a deal and you can install it yourself in 30 minutes.

I had basically the same setup on my 05, Helix 15%, CAI, Borla street and Giac. We did the dyno thing at Helix last September. The 3rd dyno run(Mustang) produced 183.9, torque around 155(wish it were a little more).
Best of luck

Sounds like we have almost the same set up -- I had 171 WHP on a Mustang dyno --

Dyno sheet - http://farm1.static.flickr.com/142/3...7dbb8d.jpg?v=0

for a comp. the 2 "stock" JCW MINI's had about 168WHP - same day, same dyno

Good luck!!!

Ok since I'm a mechanical nitwit and have to pay to have the mods installed the extra hp cost me about 78 per hp. If I divide the cost of the car by hp the cost is .007 each. These extra hp's must be thorobreds.

Roach--if it makes you feel any better, I'm not a mechanical nitwit and my 180whp cost me about the same as yours... Of course I threw away many thousands of those $s before I figured out what worked and what didn't, but I figure it's more a passion thing than a logic thing. Let's be honest, logic would never have made us buy a friggin MINI, eh? But it's ---cute---...
There are maybe a total of 100 MINIs that are really fast, a few thousand that are pretty fast, and the rest are driven by mowrons who think it's cute. The local Albuquerque dealer (Sandia MINI) sold the 150,000 unit in the US last year, so there's a whole bunch of totally stock, fun, cute little Italian Jobs, designed by Germans and built by Brazilians and British folk.
180whp is pretty darn exciting in my little world, and I hope you enjoy them all.

And thanks to guys like you, I got to my 180 whp by spending $1500. Cheers to the pioneers I tend to think of my MINI as sexy rather than cute

True that. Now let's see that head, intercooler, turbo conversion are gonna cost......go from 175whp to 300whp so 125whp for......about $80/hp...sounds about right.....

I bet in the next year, you'll see a head/cam, injectors and intercooler...water to air...? By that time I'll be ready to stop....right?

Edit: Alomost forgot water/meth injection...

My custom tune in an 05 with cnc head, cam, header, 15%.

Check the AFRs and torque plot. All done with factory ecu, no piggyback. Car also gained 3mpg combined.
