lowering engine after s/c pulley

i just got done witht the 15% s/c pulley, my engine is still not installed fully...i used two jacks to raise the engine without a hitch, following the how to thread on this forum. at anyrate, when i tried to lower the engine, the pasenger side motor mount bolt didnt line up with the hole on the engine. i tryed lowering the two jacks at different heights in various increments but still no luck. the rubber motor mount can flex some and i could push the bolt into the hole, but when the engine comes down, the threads would get damaged. has anyone else had this problem? im at a loss, i dont want to hurt my engine mount bolt, but i could always use a thread repairer tool on it. im really anxious to get behind the wheel...

Being its all rubber mounted find a place you can pry it over using a bar/ broom dowl whatever. Remove any bolts you may have already started & do it first.

I had similar issues when installing mine.....
My Brother and I worked together. You can grab the engine and pull (or push) it about 3" in either direction. I pushed the engine while he lowered the jack slowly when lined up. Took a couple of trys but we got it!

Good luck, dont be afraid to manhandle that little engine by hand.... you'll be surprised at how easily you can move it even with it on the jack.

I've done three pulley installs so far, and I always have to pull the engine forward by hand when lowering it onto the passenger-side mount. The passenger-side supercharger horn makes a good "handle" for this.

And when you go to reattach the engine mount bolt under the car, it may look at first as if there's no way it'll line up, but you can actually swing the engine back and forth, and it lines up easily.

THe earlier cars..

had an extra engine mounty thinggy that reduced for-aft movement. But all are correct in that the motor really can move around if you push on it.
