Cost. These could be quite expensive per single unit.

Groovy Baby! Yeah!

looks pretty good... whatever happened to that rotex charger for the MCS? this is basically a more efficient roots blower? what the efficiency increase compared the m45?

The rotex is cool but suffers from the limitations of centrifugal SCs. Better at higher RPMs. Bit of a generalization but true enough.
This is a compressors since they state a 2.4:1 ratio in the docs. Thermal efficiency looks to be quite a bit better. The numbers geeks can explain it better but what really matters is that at identical boost rates the cooler denser charge will get you more net HP. From memory twin screws run ~ 20% better TE than roots designs, at a given boost.

I think the M62 crew needs to toss one of these bad boys on a test car and see what results are yielded...

The same it would do for any Cooper S if it would work. M62 results are pending in the next few months. Then who knows if someone will try the new TVS model.

the line will be long for those willing to try the TVS. just as it was long for those willing to be early adoptors of the M62. perhaps the TVS will be able to be tuned properly....

Well my thinking is that the whole whole reasoning to strap a M62 to was to increase supercharger efficiency creating a cooler charge and more power. And the TVS is saying that it is a lot more efficient than the M series superchargers, so wouldnt putting the propper sized TVS on the MINI be more efficient than the M62 and probably also easier to tune?

It's going to be a while before the size needed for the Mini becomes available. It will be vast improvement over the M series. Patience...

whether or not the M62 is hard to tune has not been established..... this is the development process that any SC mod may run into......pulley size and injector size....headers, tune..... etc....... (as Dr.O said "the biatch is the tune")..... I vastly underestimated the devlopment time and it would have been better to announce this kit to the world in about a month from now when it was done complete with complimentary sorted out parts......the complimentary is what is being done behind the scenes now..... the header is just one component..... hindsight is 20/20

It's been established and it's been running for years -- BBR-GTi. Whether or not DDM can figure it out is another question.

Yeah my comment about probably being easier to tune is soley based on using a TVS supercharger made for the 1.5L - 2.0L engine instead of using the M62 which is made for a slightly larger engine.

Maybe I should change the title of the thread because the exact model of the TVS has not been chosen. None the less, it will be quite an improvement over the M series.

Its ok, I do realize this thread was posted solely to notify the community that a new design of the superchargers and that its something that we could benefit from if we swapped out for a TVS unit on no matter what vehicle it were to go onto. I just wonder if (I know this it OT on this thread) it might save the M62 guys some headache and maybe get better results. I know there are several TVS systems that could be fitted onto our cars. We appreciate the info on the new superchargers though!

I should point out that 76% thermal efficiency is right up there with a turbo, and nearly as good as the Lysholm/Whipple/twin-screw compressor. This from a roots blower design (only twisted 160°) is impressive!

Eaton is the company that originally twisted the rotors 60° to improve roots efficiency from ~40% to ~55% at high boost levels.

BBR-GTI has had good results with their M62 kit but now there will be a better solution for supercharged power: the TVS.

I think you should go ahead and develop it

I do not develop products independently but rather with associates e.g., Wegner and Stahl. The TVS will be no exception.

Please keep us updated on the TVS and when it might be developed. I just hope it's sorted out before a BIG announcement.

There is no announcement at this time as I have nothing to announce. I only began this thread because I wanted it known that the TVS would eventually be available for the Mini Cooper S. I am, however, looking forward to working with my associate (name to be released at a later date) on the project.
