I have decided to supply packages based on what you want out of your car, including installtion, and room and board if needed, followed by a day of driving instruction at the track in your car.

The track package includes four hours of on-track instruction for $100.

The installation is $65 per hour.

Pulley installation including the part is $350.

I think this is important, as it not only addresses the car, but the "loose nut behind the wheel" to quote one of our friends here on MCO. This opportunity is available to drivers of any skill level - even if you haven't ever even been to a race track.

Hmmmmm? How far is it from Ft. Lauderdale to Denver? Time driving out X .75 returning. Sounds like fun!

Been along time since I've visited Colorado, (last day of classes at CU in '74). I might have to caravan out with Ryan.

 

Room and board is also available for cheap (like nothing) at the casa. Feel free to caravan - we can also make a MINI5280 club event out of it if we have enough folks come in the same week.

Okay you really need to re-locate. Ha Ha. Is Helix located in Philadelphia? I live in NJ and i need someone i can trust to install pulley when i decide to get it. If I just had some vacation time i would seriously think about taking u up on the package offer. I just participated in my first auto X and finished dead last in my class. It was a BMW club so i wasnt exactly going against shmucks.

 

Helix is in Philly, and I highly recommend them. They do excellent work, and both Chris and Eric have extensive experience with the MINI pulley installation.

As for the auto-x, we had our first BMWCCA event here this last weekend. Nine MINIs were entered in CS class in a field of around 22 cars (I'm not sure on that number). We took first through seventh, and I was able to get the fastest PAX time of day (it is definitely the car, as I'm a road racer totally new to auto-x - and they are night and day different).

If you want to come out here though, I'd be happy to help you out! I really enjoy track instruction. They approached me (after this weekend's auto-x coincidentally, or not) about becoming an instructor this year for them as well. Porsche Club has always been a little more competetive than BMWCCA, so I may have to tone it down a bit for their events, but I always enjoy track time and seeing folks improve in their own cars.

Im in no rush really to get anything aftermarket because i realize i can improve drastically in auto x just from better driving technique. However i will probably get the madness intake pretty soon from you. I am always worried i am going to decide on a exhaust or intake and then a better when is going to come along so i will wait to see about UUC and others. Thanks for the info, i will probably order almost everything from you, im loyal OH one last thing. A good tire/wheel combo for street and track. I can't afford to have both yet so i need them to handle track and everyday

 

Take a look at the website under suspension. There is a very affordable wheel/tire combo that is a great dual purpose set-up. I have it on my car, and was originally going to go back and forth between the runflats and these, but I have just kept them on. They do well in the rain too, as long as there aren't a lot of standing puddles.

Weaverpsu - are you the guy from Maplewood??? Yes, Helix is in Philly - about an hour 2o minutes tops - MINI time that is!


Crhis & Eric are greqat guys and very knowledgeable. And of course, they get the whole MINI thing so they'll take really good care of your MINI. PM me if you have any more questions. I verified the track availability today, and as I suspected, it is available for the weekdays for most of the year!

I have been wrestling with the water-air intercooler today, and the components are top notch, but not very mass producable. That's what I am working on right now - making the kit viable as a performance part for anyone. The wiring harness, the pump, and the hoses must be easily routed and installed, and right now they aren't. I'll keep you posted!
