Hi 02///MCS,

By adding the Milltek header I was looking to at least maintain my performance with a nicer exhaust note. Any improvement would be a bonus.

I had read the threads that indicated that the header was a minial performance increaseand was aware of the the comments by SpiderX.

It's not that it is a bad idea.... and it does make a nice "note" but my concern was/is at what cost to overall driveability etc..... I am the last one to say don't do mods.... I think I have most of them..... I am just a big fan of smooth running cars with little problems.....

If that was your objective - why did you not pursue a new exhaust system? Your exhaust "note" will be first and foremost defined by the exhaust system and not a header.

You got a pretty violent tone there and we aren't even talking Daniel Stern

BTW, what makes you think a Borla Race or Magnaflow gets more HP than JCW exhaust ... you got the dyno sheets there?

I can tell you as a fact, having had both the JCW exhaust and Borla Race ... you will NOT feel nothing different. Louder and more obnoxious to many ppl, but power you can feel

Even going to our local MINI racing guy said the same thing. Want it louder, stick on a Borla ... just noise bling.

borla race made 2-3 horsepower on top of what a JCW exhaust made, i remember seeing the dyno sheet, but can't find it

Haha I remember reading around here that the Borla was one of the few exhaust systems to actually make power. And I think I remember reading someones post about the Borla making a couple hp over the JCW as well. Granted, your right, nothing noticeable by the seat-of-the-pants feel. But the extra noise sure does help you feel like your money was well spent hehe

If he's referring to a dyno sheet I'm assuming whp.. either way nothing you'll notice...

02, your correct Soul Coughing, you too.

I hated the JCW exhaust because it was just too quiet but it DOES produce HP. MIke Cooper just wanted it quiet to be "refined". LDG told me if I wanted noise bling, get the Borla. I did the research and someone on MINI2 did the dyno runs and it did get 2 BHP ...

Yeah, it sounded very nice

I said you wouldn't feel it. Nobody can feel 2 bhp.

Spider, I'm pretty sure it was bhp. Both borla race and JCW make maybe 8 or 9 ... miltek too ... I'm pretty sure.

I know this is an old thread, but for people looking for header info, I can say that the RMW street header and JCW exhaust play together very well and make a great sound! Here is a video of my setup:

Wow, what a thread bump! Funny enough, on reading the thread, I found my old posts! Same car, but now with an RMW street header. I could feel a little difference in power, but really increased the sound of the stock exhaust. I'd love to hear what it sounds like with a JCW!
