I love talking about flow. As an old surfer who is obsessed with design, managing the flow of water is a hot topic in surfboard design, I love to her other peoples theories about air flow. There has been allot of talk on NAM lately about air flow thanks to new Intercoolers and intakes . It appears that every one has an opinion on the subject.

Here is a how a 60 year old, world renowned surfboard shaper describes the Venturi effect on water flow.

Here is what his design looks like. The extra speed you get from his design is amazing. Here is what his final design looks like. It's all about the details.

carbon fiber has actualy a highter heat transfer rate than glass fiber, that is why I use 1 layer of carbon on the outside of the "funnel" For stiffness and 1 or 2 glass layer on the inside (hot side) . If there was enought room I would use a cabon/ foam/carbon sandwich :lighter, stiffer, highter insulation. That is the plan for my CAI
By the way the plastic of the OEM air box is a glass filled, polyester or thermoplastic resin ie nylon.Therfore a very decent insulator

Thought probably. Thanks for the clarification.
