Where does that Megan quote come from? A citation would be helpful, thanks.

I think the Megan is another viable alternative so it becomes a design decision 4-1 or 4-2-1. You could touch base with SpiderX who temporarily put on his M62 project car and get some input.

I wouldn't be too concerned if this occurred in regards to some parts such as headers. THERE could be some real DEAl opportunities in the near future. BUT I would be concerned if I was using some high end parts like their coilovers that may need replacement pieces.

Defeated by Mini Coopers !!!

It was posted on Motoring Underground with no link so I am not sure . It looks liek it might have been related to a exhaust discussion however. Randy

Though that quote is from an MC exhaust thread, he's not referring to problems with the exhaust (in fact, that MC version isn't even available yet).

Sid's already aware of this but for those who are not, the source of the negativity seems to be the problem that was found in the design of their coilovers. Megan partnered on their design with an established MINI vendor and the result was a feature rich coilover kit with flaw - not enough travel for the front dampers to operate well. They've been working feverishly on it though (that's Megan, minus the MINI vendor this time.....) and an effective and relatively simple fix appears to be about ready to ship.

The only real problem I've read re Megan's header is one or two reports of failure in the flex joint. I'm pretty sure that was isolated to the short flex joint in the two piece version - the one with the removable resonator/race pipe section you can replace with a cat. They once had a one piece catless version - may still sell it - and it seems to me that version had slightly longer primaries and a longer flex joint because it didn't need to accomodate the removable section.

We did put the Megan on temporarily while waiting for the Milltek to come back...... the Megan worked fine but we went back to the Milltek to try to maintain some continuity...... the collector got high marks from Dave at DDM and he liked it better than the Milltek we took off......

What do you guys think?
I Hate to have to bring another thread back to life, but I think I may have just recieved this same header you returned!

It has the same 2mm variance in the center that you showed.

GRRRRRRRRR!

Worse yet, I bought it new on ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6881169&rd=1,1

Think MossMini will give me a new one? I can't find anything about a warranty? It's never been installed!

HELP ME! I paid $220+ after shipping. Moss Mini says it was bought over 12 months ago, so is not under warranty.

VOTE...

1- Try to get a full refund and get an OBX header.
2- Screw it! Mill this beast!
3- Buy another one from Moss and return this one in its place. Then sell the returned header.

Thanks!

Bore out the two middle cylinders and put big valves in them too, you'll be fine.

No, mainly just because they dont list any parts for the MINI.

Think it's worth a shot?

I think so...it's their product and it is a manufacturing defect so it is their responsiblity IMO...

I'm not sure what kind of miller these guys have, but to put that in the Bridgeport that I use will take some rigging.
I was just talking to my friend that owns the shop, and he agreed that we would need to have it here to determine if it could be done.

Can you put a tape measure on it from the top(head) flange to the middle flange, and tell me how long it is?

Another option would be to find someone in your area with a big azz belt sander, and have them hold it down on that for a few until it was straight.

ok, so I got the megan header installed an on my car.

problem 1: the upper o2 sensor will NOT reach the hole..
solution: I ziptied it up away from the exhaust and used the stock plug for the megan inplace of it..

problem 2: after driving away.. mabye 15 miles? idk the engine light came on (not the EML light) the service engine soon light.. ok... first though

mabye its the 02? hmm.. ya but wouldnt that be eml? ok.. so everything sounds ok, gaskets in and fine..

is that normal for the engine light to go off and not the eml light?

It's hard to say without an OBD reader...there shouldn't be any light coming on...
