Drivetrain LSD ... I don't have one.... is it worth it?
If you have the money for it and plan to do the clutch and flywheel anyways, by all means do it. The Quaife will be much more effective than the factory LSD as well FWIW.
I had a highly modified Neon that was putting out around 170 whp and saw some track duty, a moderate amount of drag strip action, and a lot of autocrosses. Next to Konis and race tires, the Quaife LSD I installed was one of the best mods I did. It did change how the car drove and took a bit of adjustment in my driving style, but it was definitely worth it. For the Neon the Quaife LSD's are normally around $1300, but I was lucky to find a new one on sale for $800. I removed the tranny myself, took it to a guy two hours away, dropped it off for a week, and about $150 later I had the LSD installed in my tranny, and reinstalled it in my car with a new clutch.

I've heard some rumors (and i assume that's all they are) about some of the lightened flywheel's for the mini not being all they are cracked (horrible pun) up to be.
I assume you used the clutch and flywheel that you linked sid? And did it make a real noticible difference to the engine spool up?

Would it be worth it for a NA Cooper? I have almost every engine mod done to it except for the head and cam. My clutch and flywheel is out and I'm replacing it with a Spec 2 clutch and Flywheel. Helix has one and they said this is the best time to do it if I want one.
For suspension I got the 17x7 G-force Sport, H-Sport comp rear sway bar, M7 USS and Koni FSD.

Yes, I use 10lb Fidanza/Spec 2/Quaife combo and have been very happy with them...they spool up very quickly...

The Quaife does not drag as do clutch type LSDs...they're mechanical torque sensing biased...automatically biases torque to wheel with less traction...if both wheels have equal traction, each would theoretically receive equal power...I assume this works the same way when coasting around a turn...

Thanks...The REX? 1986 CRX Si, intercooled/turbo 225hp, blue printed motor by CarTech (that's right, Corky Bell), 1850lbs, rollcage, Mugan body...the usual tricks but this was one of the earliest of the "Tuner" Hondas and the parts were harder to find than hens teeth:impatient ...
It had no traction in 1st/2nd...but on average, it could still make up time by hitting 100mph in less than 11 seconds
Wish'd I had kepted it...
86 that's old school! Wicked man props! That's like this car!

I meant to give you props for your Mini first!
Thanks...

absolutely pimp man!! since we are sharing....here's mine. Car was intended as a sleepr and fully 'done' (for a daily driven street car that is), save for the hybrid B18 swap I'd been planning.

It's the first experimental BASF stealth gray paint that flops from gray green to gray purple...impossible to take a picture of...
I do love to start threads and see how they "morph"
Sid... I wish I had that CRX..... very.....Sid like
as far as the LSD I will stick to my plan of putting it in when I need a clutch....... hopefully I still have a few miles..... I don't do launches so we'll see.....

Sorry it of got off topic... Yeah go for the LSD if you got the money! I'm on the fence... my clutch is toasted right now, but for 1200 bucks for the part and it might give me a 10th of a second faster at the track/autoX (Webb claims) kind of makes me feel iffy... maybe I should just invest in being a better driver?!?!?!
MSFITOY:
Yeah it was kind of hard to tell what color it is... just looks like a mean army color... just a dope ride... just don't get rid of your Mini!

My 03 MCS didn't have LSD as a factory option... I always thought a LSD was only for racetracks...
2 months ago, I needed a new transmission and decided to get a 2005 tranny because of the closer gearing. It also got the LSD at the same time.
The first week I drove my car with the new transmission, I was focusing on the new gearing and was having fun with it. But after that, I began focusing on how the LSD was acting in different situations. It really does make a huge difference!
On the street, it helps both on corners and straight lines. It makes a huge difference when it comes to putting power to the ground. (2 wheels are better than 1 lol) I am now sold to LSD.

The quaife is the bomb....it totally transformed the car. Just becareful with what lightweight flywheel and clutch combo you go with. I wouldnt go over a stage2 clutch.
The combo I have just plain sux for daily stop and go driving. It like a lite switch. Either on or off. It makes you feel like you dont know how to drive stick not to mention you look like it to everyone else on the road from a stop. Now while on the gas its amazing.
If I had to do it again, I would def try a different clutch than a stage 3. FWIW the cars handles a lot better with the setup overall, just a PIA in stop n' go.
