New Clutch - Now rubbing sound

I just had a new MiniMania Stage II clutch installed in my '02 MCS on Friday.
When I started the car it sounded like something was rubbing (almost like static on the radio).
There is nothing wrong with the way the car operates - just the noise.

Anyone have a clue?

thanks, in advance, for your "constructive" responses.

Doesn't sound good, i've never heard of anything like that before. I'd take it back where you got the work done and make sure everything is done correctly. Might wanna give Mini Mania a call and find out from them what their thoughts are.

SUBJECT
Engine, Transmission, or Clutch Related Complaints

MODEL
R50, R52, R53
All models with both the W10 and W11 engines

SITUATION
Various complaints concerning the engine, transmission, clutch, or noise characteristics of the vehicle have been traced to the absence or damage of the alignment dowels between the engine and transmission.
In many cases the dowels required to center the engine/transmission were not fitted, or were damaged, during a previous repair in which the engine and transmission were separated.
If the alignment of the engine flywheel to the transmission input shaft, or torque converter, is incorrect any of the following complaints may result:
  1. Clutch complaints: slipping, shudder, or poor disengagement.
  2. Noise from transmission input shaft.
  3. Transmission pops out of gear.
  4. Difficulty changing gears.
  5. Internal damage to an automatic transmission.
PROCEDURE
When performing any repair which involves separating the engine and transmission, always check that the dowels are undamaged and properly in place before reassembly.

Well, after extensive looking around and head scratching my mechanic decided it wasn't the clutch after all - thought the noise was coming from the auto-tensioner. Asked me to leave the car for the day until he could check it out.
I called (2) days later and he said, "it's not good news" and asked me to come down to the shop.
Got there and found my supercharger sitting on a work bench with the back water pump gear housing removed.
They found that my S/C ate itself.
The housing for the water pump gears is sealed and hard to get to (basically removing the supercharger completely from the car). Once the factory oil is gone the gears start-in on each other.
I have to replace the S/C since the gears are not sold seperately.

Hopefully I'll have my car back in a few days.
