Drivetrain Seat belts
Hey Jack. MINI-Madness and BMP both have the Schroth 4-point harness that can easily be removed from the car for those days you aren't at the track. Here's the madness link:

The biggest worry with the 4-point, as I'm sure you know, is the chance of submarining which they claim to prevent by having a small section of belt that allows your torso to move forward of the lapbelt and stop you going under.
I've been looking at a few and think I'd prefer a 5 point system because of the chance of submarining in the 4-point. However the 5 point systems usually require a roll bar etc to get them installed correctly.
Cheers,
Paul
Jack,
I just installed a set of Schroth Rallye-4 "Quick Fit" belts in my MCS. You install two quick connect ears on each side and then the 4 points just clip in to the ears or the factory belt clips. It's a very cool installation and these are specific to the MINI Cooper and Cooper S. I got my from Joe Marko at HMS Motorsport (who also happens to be the US importer for Schroth, I believe). Joe is very knowledgable. Check them out here: HMS Schroth Rallye-4 page
I'm using mine for drivers' schools and maybe auto-xing.

The Schroth Rally 4 belts do not have a submarining issue like standard 4 point racing harnesses. The Schroth belts are designed to allow your upper body to move forward and twist a bit just like normal seat belts which prevents you from submarining. These are great belts and are a great choice for supportive belts if you don't want to or cannot install a racing harness. They are DOT approved so you can use them all the time, or you can easily stow them under your seats when not in use.
I highly recommend them!
