Wondering if anyone has had any experience with a shop that can do one fo the pulley reduction mods. I'm sure there a lots that "could" do it, but I really dont want to pay for 10 hrs of labor. Any help would be great. Thanks

talk to promini; they have a few dealers around and are the major pulley distributor

bmarvin: Monster Mini is in Riverside I believe, maybe they can do it, or try Moss Mini, or SVC.

Man, that shows you how long its been since I was a regular here (been a bit busy motoring) wasn't aware there was now a vendor section. I just sent diamond racing an email about the labor cost for the pulley mod. I'll keep you posted

SVC did the pulley mod? What else did they do in that car? I've emailed them several times but they won't return mail. They're rather snobby.

called jackson/moss mini and they didn't know who could do the install. Then called magnuson products (socal dist/installer of eaton superchargers, they said they could do the pressing of the pulley but they wouldn't do the removal of the SC. Then talked to Monster Mini and got some great news. Jason at monster said they are installing the promini pulley on their project car next week and after that they will be doing installs. He said this is the new pulley that takes a 1/3 of the time to install than the others (hinted at not having to remove the SC) Said it would take around 2 hrs (est. man would that be nice, I'll keep my fingers crossed) I'll keep you posted on the updates.

bmarvin81,

I just joined Southern California Mini Maniacs http://www.scmm.org out of Moorpark California. They do 1 or 2 ralleys a month and the next ralley is on Saturday April 5th. They will meet at the Krispy Kreme in the Ontario Mills parking lot at 9:00 a.m and depart at 10:00 a.m. to go to Monster MINI. After, they will drive up the mountain via hwy 18 to Big Bear. Could be as many as 60-75 MINI's. Shoot me a private message and I would be happy to give you all the details. I want the pully mod myself but am waiting for Randy to do the ECU work in conjuction with the pully. I will be very interested in the install on your car.

Keep us all posted!!!

Scott

-Whitney,

That ralley sounds great. I'll see if I can free up that weekend. I too am excited about the ecu tuning options that randy is working on. I will definitly be up for that mod when it gets proper testing done. But until then I'd like to get the pulley mod and let the stock ecu adapt. As for the questions about warranty issues, after heavily tuning about 5 cars that I have owned in the past I have not regreting doing it,(with the exception of spending an enormous amount on mods) Life's too short to live in fear of something happening to your warrenty. And remember, the warranty isn't voided until they can prove that the mod caused the problems. It's kind of like not traveling because of fear of terrorist, so for the last year and a half why people have been sitting around thinking everyday will bring in the worst, some of us have been enjoying life to the fullest, no regrets. A bit of an extreme comparo but an interesting one none the less

My thoughts exactly- I couldn't have said it any better myself. I'm living today, tomorrow I don't know. Shoot you guys can wait on the warranty, but will it wait for you? If you can't drive your Mini tomorrow for some physical reason there is no time out clock on the warranty. Drive the car for what it is"FUN!!"

come on guys, I know there is one person here in southern california who can install a pulley for me. How is it that we can mod out thousands of cars from 57 chevys to honda civics and there is no one installing pulleys? So now I am officially down on my knees begging.

Need pulley, have cooper, will travel!

Well, Monster Mini is apparently able to do it, might want to drop them a line. If you hear from Diamond, post a quote... or somethin

You want a road trip?? I have been doing the installs for $350-$450 including the pulley. I'd be happy to help you out!

Talked to monster min a few times. At first they were waiting for the part to get in and then they were going to install it on the project vehicle. I called back a few weeks later and they responded by saying they have the part, and they have been looking at it for 2 weeks because the "install looks pretty complicated". So sounds like another prospect bites the dust. As for diamond racing, i sent them an email a while back but no response. And randy, don't think that I haven't thought of driving to see you. I have a week off at the first part of may so I might see if I can sneak a roadtrip in there. In the mean time randy, you should think of doing a weekend install gig/extravaganza in LA, 48 hrs of pulleys (well maybe thats a bit extreme) but hey, I know you would have more coopers than you could shake a stick at. Just an idea
