Drivetrain Intercooler sufficient w/ 15% pulley?
Any of you guys with the 15% pulley experience any pre-ignition problems when revved out on a hot day? Just wondering if the intercooler was sufficient for the extra 4 psi boost. I'm not sure what the efficiency of the Eaton superchargers are, so I'm wondering what the additional inlet air temp is for the additional 4 psi. Just curious.......
Daivd,
Great question. Not yet is the short answer.
Even the stock pulley could use more intercooler, so a larger one with the reduction pulley would definitely help. That said, even BMW must think it's adequate, as the new factory blessed JCW kit does not address any intercooler changes with the same reduction pulley amount.
I have pushed the car very hard and haven't had any issues on the dyno or at the track, but the warmest it has been is 75F, so when the 95+ days roll around, we'll see if any other problems pop up.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
