New IC Water Spray Controller

This is probably the first way to manage an intercooler water sprayer that actually makes sense.

A bit pricey, but has to be effective...

Looks interesting, but I could never see spending that much money on a water sprayer...

There's a guy in the NM MINI club with a 5 gallon tank of water in the boot, and a micro switch under the accelerator. When he floors it, the Alta water sprayer just dowses the IC with water. His name is Ken. Every time I see him his IC is covered in water and he smiles a lot. He drives hard and fast. I don't think he cares about the weight of an average of 2.5 gallons of water in his boot.

I also don't think it cost him a whole lot.
cheers, phil

thats not really good, you dont want to drowned the IC you just want to mist it enough for the water to evaporate on the IC.

I like that this one is automatic. Too much for me though.

I've been thinking about getting one of those add-on windshield washer kits which is basically a tank, pump and trigger. Hook it to my Alta sprayer then I wouldn't have to use the rear washer... and I could run washer fluid for my windshield again instead of water.

Have you (or anyone else) seen anything that actually mists? I've heard, but not seen, that the ones on the market today for the MCS tend to spray and not mist. I'd prefer not to get the electronics and misc mechanical parts that are located underneath the intercooler a water bath every time I want to cool down the intercooler.

As long as you don't hold the trigger too long the water should evaporate before it has time to drip. The weather stripping keeps the water from over spraying.

If you are concerned about "...parts that are located underneath the intercooler..." getting a bath, you had best never go out when it's raining, as any water entering the hood scoop goes right out the bottom of the IC.
