"S" Aftermarket Exhaust Question

This may be somewhat of a stupid question, but what is the major difference behind why some exhaust systems on the "S" are single sided and others still run like the standard "S" exhaust. Example the Dinan exhaust versus the magnaflow?

Can someone explain?

Thanks,
SoCar

Single side or dual side is merely a design choice. Both can be effective if designed correctly. Single sided can provide weigth savings over dual sided.

The S is kind of 1 sided also. It comes down the center, then goes to one side of the car, then after going into the muffler, 1 pipe goes out to exhaust, and another jumps to a second muffler.

Kind of like a L with the bottom doubled back. Look at the underside of a S sometime. Plenty of pics lurking here in the forums.

Most aftermarket are either split Y pipes, or 1 sided... Where the stock 's' is a hybrid.

Good point

Without being a V (anything), I guess technically its not a "dual" exhaust because there aren't two headers
