Drivetrain Who has the Best Torque?
Who has the Best Torque?
Virtually all threads on NAM (or MINI2 for that matter) always address peak HP figures. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but has anyone really focused more on torque than HP? It makes sense to me that unless one is planning on lots of high rpm running (where the peak hp numbers lie with a MINI), the more important number for the everyday driver is torque. And it might be the more important number for the autocrosser (I guess it depends on the course). Anyway, it appears that, generally speaking, the torque figure is almost an afterthought on most threads.
So I'm curious: what kind of torque values are people getting with the various mods, how do those values compare to a typical baseline S, and can we learn something about the most valuable set of "torque mods" that might lead us in a different direction from the "high HP" mods? Or not?
I'll start: my baseline torque for my '05 JCW is 165.5.
