Drivetrain Suspension System!!
This question is for RandyBMC.
randy,
if i don't lower my mcs, would the madness swaybar work just as good. i don't mind lowering the car but i think the ride with the factory spring are firm enough already, and despite what i am hearing, how much stiffer are the h & r springs for the mcs. i don't want it to feel like a real go-kart. do you have these products in stock? say if i include the bmp tower brace also, will that be a good enough suspension package without giving up my ride comfort?

bbt4: I have both the MINI Madness rear sway (thanks randy) and the H&R springs. I have also experiemented recently with the H&R coilovers.
Doing just the rear sway will improve the cornering abilities of you MINI, even if you don't do the springs. I would recommend doing the rear sway first, because the effect is that noticable.
The H&R springs will also help, but do lower the car. They aren't that much stiffer than stock though. Thus, the ride comfort isn't really all that different than stock. Actually, with the H&R springs and regular (non run-flat) tires, the ride comfort is better than the stock Cooper S.
I would have no problem recommending the MINI Madness rear sway with the stock Cooper S suspension. Go for it!

I have a car here with just the rear swaybar, and I think it makes a world of difference even without the springs. On the street, it was hard for me to notice the spring change when we put the H&Rs in.
The track is a whole different world. With the H&Rs, the transition roll is greatly reduced, as well as brake dive which helps when trail braking and transferring weight.
The H&Rs don't ride any firmer than the stock springs in my opinion. That may be due to the fact that they are a progressive rate spring.
The BMP strut brace is absolutely beautiful, allows you to preload the strut brace, and fits perfectly with the BMP filter. It is especially nice in aluminum where it doesn't weigh much anyway. While the MINI is already very strong torsionally, as long as it doesn't weigh much, triangulation never hurts.
It sounds to me like a good starting point for you would be the rear swaybar and the BMP strut brace. If you still need more or plan to do some track work or autocrossing, then you may want to check out the springs later.
The rear swaybar will be back in stock on the 13th of February, but they are selling fast, and a backlist of customers is already getting pretty deep. I know this sounds like a used car salesman push, but it may help if you go ahead and get on the list to get one in the next production run so it doesn't go past Febraury 13.
The BMP Strut Braces are in stock.
If you have any other questions, let me know.
Hope that helps!
