What next?

So I did the Alta CAI, 15% Pulley, Remus exhaust, and Shark Mod. Still, I am looking for that extra horses (You could never get enough horse power) What's next? I don't want it to be too expensive but $1500 or less is a possibility.

Any suggestions?

Pure Silver 2003 MSC Black Stripes with Aero Grills— 19k mi, Alta CAI, 15% pulley, Remus Catback exhaust, Shark, and S-Lite Wheels (Chaing to something else next Spring).

How do you like the shark?

Here's my .02 .. Dump the shark and get a different alternative for a chip.. (MTH, Unichip, Giac, Evo, apexi) .. I'm sure you'll get more ponies..

To get more power and better tuning, spend another $100-200 and pay some tuner who knows what they're doing to tune your ECU.... This is why I like the APEXI (price for hardware and custom tune is still cheaper than the other ECU options out there) since you can custom tune it for your car to squeeze as much "ponies" as you want...

If you get a dyno w/ A/F graph and have MTH Tuner, you might be able to get it fine tuned for even more power.

Buy yourself the lightest wheels that you can afford. It will make a big difference. Install an LSD, this will eliminate wheel spin and allow you to be on the throttle hard much earlier when exiting a corner or launching from a dead stop. With the LSD you will be able to use all of the horsepower you just bought.

A side benifit of the LSD is that you will have better traction in the winter on snow and slush (nothing helps on ice other than chains or studs). You can get the Phantom Grip, a very economical and effective unit, or a Quaife, also effective but more expensive.

Interesting idea. I was actually just looking at the Quaife. Wonder how much it is for everything including installation.

Get the M7 Extreme Hood scoop. No hp gain but it will help cool your Intercooler with the effect of a larger intercooler without the price

I like the idea but I would have to see it in person first though. The profile of it scares me LOL.

Over the course of a run, lower IAT's from the scoop [see the thread with data!] will help keep your hp loss down. That's effectually gaining power .

S-AFC 2 or the S-AFC 2 SELECT... You probably haven't heard a lot about it on MINI because most of the MINI owners like things to be plug and play, (forgetabouit!) I come from the Turbo Miata world and SC'ed M3 world, where custom tuning is always recommended, especially if you want the most power out of your car..

Not sure what you would get w/ just a properly tuned car and basic bolts on since I haven't seen a lot of dyno sheets, or maybe people just haven't posted them.. When I did my car (stock) dyno, by the time my car hit about 5900 RPM, my A/F was already at 10 ... Factory really tuned our cars to be RICHHHHHHHH, sojust by tuning it right, you should get some good extra horses..
