Replacement shifter bushing - any ideas?

(I originally posted this in the Interior/Exterior Mods Forum and didn't get many replies...I'm wondering if this is a better forum for my question. Thanks for your help.)

Hi guys -

A few weeks ago a buddy and I installed the Alta SS kit. I love it. My grin gets bigger every time I drive it.

The only snag we ran into is in removing the bushing(?). I think that's what it is...it's the white plastic piece that holds the ball of the shifter in place. We cracked it as we were removing it. Too much force, too little smarts.

Luckily it was still in one piece. As a short term fix, we used some Gorilla Glue and held it in place with rubber bands until it dried. Not a perfect solution, but I figured that would hold it until I could get to the dealer.

Which brings me to my problem. My dealer doesn't sell just that piece. Their computer has it listed as part of the entire shifter assembly, which would cost me triple digits. I think he said it was $125 or something...way more than I'm willing to pay for a 2 dollar piece of plastic!

Any ideas where I can find a replacement? None of the vendors seem to stock something that small.

Thanks.

sorry bro.......we only sell it as the whole shifter assembley.....i installed my B&M SS not to long ago and found out that you can put that bushing the wrong way which will put the shifter at a bad angle and lossing 5th n 6th gears......i called B&M and figured it out in a 10min talk with there tech ( which i then told him he should of put a warning in the instruction being it goes in both ways.....For one it was a biiiiiii*ch to get out but went together easly ( after the 2nd time ) .

Your looking at about a hundo for the whole shifter just for the piece IF you break it.....Sorry

Check with the salvage yards

There was a rash of breaking these bushings when the short shifters hit the market. No one that I know of ever made a replacement part. People had to bite the bullet and buy the whole OEM shifter just to get one.
There have to be some crashed MINI's being parted out by now.

Here try this; http://www.uneedapart.com/used-mini-parts.php
