V2 Technologies Exhaust

Hi guys,
I searched for information on a cat back system I ran across on ebay. Item # 7973876561. I will not paste all the info here but I contacted the seller and he said this unit was made by Vibrant Performance. Has anyone else looked at this unit? At 329.00 the price seems unreasonably cheap. With 2 kids in college I am all about cheap. Thanks, Chris

I was goofing around on eBay the other day and saw those. From the photo, it looks exactly like the exhaust I bought through eBay, say maybe six or eight months ago. From the discussion of fitment issues and such it sounds exactly like it.

FWIW, mine had a few minor fitment issues, but nothing hard to fix. The resonator was manufactured too far aft on the pipe so I had to trim back the little mounting plate under the car to clear it. The forward mounting rods on the mufflers were rotated 90 degrees from where I needed them. That's probably because the system was apparently designed for 2003 and earlier cars and mine's a 2004. Factory changed that mounting point for 2004.

Both issues were easy to fix. If it's the same system, it's all stainless steel, aside from the above problems it fits well, and it sounds good. No drone at speed, and it's aggressive but not overly loud.

Of course, it could be a completely different system made from domestic cheese and soy milk and in that case I'd have just wasted fourty seconds of your life.

But it sure looks the same.

Spunky,

It sounds like the same system. Since my MCS is an 03 I believe the hangers won't be an issue. However, the ad does discuss having to do some Dremel work on the mounting plate to make it fit. Based on your experience it sounds like you would recommend it.

Anybody else bought this system? Would love to see some actual dyno numbers.

Thanks,
Chris

I have this SYSTEM. My picture of the resonator/support plate interference with comparison to stock is on this site somewhere. I am pleased with it and would do it again. Spunky and I put them on about the same time. I'm in SoCal. Item still looks like new. I love the sound of it.

One more issue though - maybe just mine, is that the left muffler hangs lower than right one so from the back you see bottom of the can on left side, not right side. The system has real solid flanges, not slip fits., so it is not readily adjusted. However, it fits just great, aside from the trim of the plate and left muffler hanging slightly lower.

Marty R (RSpeed?) was going to market this system. He said it produced more midrange torque. I think so My car Dynoed 165 HP and 150 ft lb. torque. (15% Pulley, intake, exhaust) HP was a little low but torque was supposedly a little higher for the power generated, per El, who was at the dyno tune at DPR

Yep, Steve and I got ours at about the same time. I concur that it still looks new (and I'm not a polish and shine guy, I tend to knock the big chunks off when I can't see out any more and let it go at that) and that I like the sound. Never dyno'd mine and I've been fooling around with bikes-n-cars way too long to trust by butt dyno so I can't speak for power increases. My mufflers hang lever as far as I can tell, so Steve's experience with lopsidedness may well be just a production tolerance sort of thing.

All in all, as far as I'm concerned, it's a decent exhaust at a decent price and I'd buy it again.
